I like to keep the phone in the usb cable/charger by my bedside and once in a while i may use it while connected to the charger and i can't even turn over on the bed without running out of cable. Anyone else feel that the cable is way to short?

Not really, although I only have the cable connected to my MacBook Pro and plugged into the dock which is 6 inches away. If you really want, you can buy a USB extender, they usually come with flash drives so you might already have one.

its not short.. and you always can buy usb extenction cable from apple or belkin.

Yeah it's pretty short. 6 ft. would have been acceptable, but 3 ft. isn't really. It's convenient for tethering to my MBP, but my MBP's stays in my studio while my iPhone goes next to my bed.

For that matter, they should have included an extra dock and USB cable for the charger, so one could stay next to my computer and one next to my bed. I suppose that's why they make us buy one :D

I think Apple is trying to encourage people to use keyboards with a built in USB hub. If you need for a 6ft cord, that tells me that you don't have any USB ports accessible on your desk. Thats sort of inconvenient isn't it?

I'm biased in my opinion, but I'd rather see people who prefer such a setup have to get an extension cord rather than those of us with laptops or other conveniently available USB ports have to suffer with a 6ft mess of wire on our desks.

It's fine when the dock is hooked up to my Mac, but way too short when on the table near the front door where I have a second dock and the wall plug charger. An extension cable (an Apple one comes with Apple keyboards) works to solve this problem or one can do as I did and stick a power strip under the table, providing the extra length needed.

I dont use the cable that came with my iphone, I have gone through a few ipods and have tons of dock cables floating around, including the old firewire dock cables. So that is what my iphone dock is hooked up to, and firewire brick charger and fw cable thats 6 feet long. Thats where i do my nightly charging, then i use the factory iiphone cable only for syncing.

personally i feel it's just about the right size. I connect it to a macbook, so I never need to stretch the phone that far away from the computer.

I think the original included cable is too short for use w/ the AC adapter, but not too short to be used w/ my MB. So I'm using the short one w/ the MB and I'm using my Nano's USB cable which is a tiny bit longer w/ the AC adapter.

BT headset should be arriving today so here's hoping those cables are a tad longer.

It is short enough to be annoying. I have sent the phone and the dock flying in the morning trying to turn the alarm off. It is usually the loud crash that wakes me up... The positive side of this is I always have a newer model mobile as they do not last super long in my care. I looked at the cases for the iphone and scoffed. I figured if I was moving from a huge blackberry, I was going to enjoy the small size, and not ruin it with a case.

It is amazingly short... I honestly don't understand how anyone could make a phone call while still having the phone plugged in. I'd have to have all my outlets about 4 ft taller. When I want my phone charged and still make a phone call I have to get down on the ground and sit there to make a phone call.

I absolutely love my MBP and it's charging cable. It's awesome how long it is. It kicks my girlfriend's dell one by almost 2 feet!!!

Thank you...

I know... That cord barely reaches my night stand from the wall outlet behind it.

Considering the fact that it is supposed to be a power adapter, not just a way to sync to my computer, the cord should be long enough where I could at least plug it in a wall and stand up to talk on it.

Granted, I'm 6'8", so I may have been at a disadvantage to begin with.

Sure the cord functions, but overall, it's at least a foot too short.

It is too short.....I have to use an extension cord to get my iPhone into an accessible location when plugged in.

10' USB cable

I have this same issue, it's way to short (4' short to reach nightstand & bed)
So has anyone used a solution, like a USB extension cable?:D

Here is a 10' clear USB

The Airport Express comes with an extension cable just like what is used on the MacBook & MacBook Pro. I use this cable instead of plugging the charger directly into the wall when I have the phone at my bedside.

The Airport Express is always plugged directly into the wall outlet.

A very useful length. Long enough to pick up a call while charging (with my MB) and short enough to not have cable clutter. I would agree that if I ever used the wall wart it would be too short, but I still have only used it once that way.
