I carry 2 phones, its just too much hassle work having my personal number

as for corp email on iphone ask your company to look at good

http://www1.good.com/applications/good-for-enterprise

Blackberry's software is cheaper than Good per user, and it can control blackberry, iphone and android phones. Like other iphone device management software, Blackberry's software detects whether your iphone has been jailbroken and if it is jailbroken then you can't connect to the corporate network.

I'd forward the BB to my iPhone and turn it off.

It doesn't matter with the forwarding.

His employer decided that employees can no longer have a jailbroken iphone or an iphone with icloud feature turn on. Even if his employer doesn't buy the Blackberry device management software, they will still buy another company's device management software that detects whether your iphone has been jailbroken and disable your iphone's icloud feature.

good won't work with jail broken phones, when I costed it up about a year ago good worked out cheaper per user apart from where we had to buy the phone for the user then it was cheaper to give them a BB

I wouldn't want any control over a byod phone

That's where device management software is headed --- with or without Blackberry's software. VMware wants a piece of the action. Good wants to charge more license fee per user, so they are going to add these functions as well in the future.

I'd rather be issued with a work phone than allow work to manage my device

I hate to say it but to be blunt if I'm paying your cell phone bill I set the rules.

I agree, that is why I opted to keep my personal IP5 personal and off the company network, and they ordered me a work phone which I will only have to carry when I am on call, so that is not a big deal, they better part is that since the Z10's are so backordered, we get the option of an IP5 for work, so I chose that route. I just feel personal is personal, and business is business, so only thing I lost is the monthly expense of my phone bill.

Don't use their phone for personal business, don't use your phone for work. Simple as that. As the IT guy in charge of this where I work, really, just DON'T.

I have no clue where you work, but it sounds like you answered your own question right there. Corporations have been favoring blackberries for this very reason. For all intents and purposes, a blackberry is going to do everything you need to (for work), and the company has more control over it than anything else, really.

Anyway, please give us your impressions of the z10 in the "other" forums when you get a chance. I am intrigued, but not willing to drop $600+ on an unproven device just yet. I might pick one up used when the demand/price drops.

They gave us the option of an IP5 since the BB Z10 is so backordered, in any case works for me, keep my IP5 personal, and use the work one for work only, just hate having two, but do not want any software that controls what I can and can not do on my IP5, so this is the choice I had to make.

I'm unimpressed with the Z10 since some of the greatest benefits of Blackberry go away with it. It's essentially an (even) bigger version of the iPhone - something I never wanted for the last few years.

That being said if my employer paid for it I'd use it. In fact I'd be rather begging to give me the Q10 once it's available.

If you work in a field where data safety is very important (and which field isn't) I can totally understand what your employer is doing here. Just keep your iPhone for your personal stuff and everyone should be happy. Messing with the settings and moving corporate data elsewhere is all fun and games - until something goes very wrong. And they'll get you for that. And rightly so.

Yep 2 phones it is, they are using Rim's new Mobile fusion app agreement which controls your iphone giving them the ability to pretty do whatever they want with your phone, wipe it, track you, etc.

If this happened to me I would leave the BB at home after normal work hours and on the weekends.

Luckily my company allows us to BYOD.

A lot f companies are allowing BYOD, but that soon will end, in my job as a Software Security Auditor for a Public Co, I see their point, but they only have BB Curves, or Bolds, the Torch or an iPhone 4S or IP5, so I went with the IP5.

I just have to keep personal seperate from work and vice versa which I am ok with, plus for work they allow us to order Mophie cases so now my battery will last longer for work, and since I will not be using my personal phone for Work, my battery will last longer and my bill went down as well Win Win, plus we got Apple Care on the work phone.
