any individual software quality incident by itself is proof of nothing, but taken together they paint a concerning picture of steadily declining software quality at Apple

what we can debate over is what the cause of all this is:

- Is it an increased focus on revenue and profit? ("the Tim Apple" crowd)
- Is it the result Apple's rapid head count growth and the ensuing complexity of communication and coordination?
- Is it the growing complexity of software over time?
- Is it the lack of a singular focus at the top? ("everything would be different if Steve were alive")

My hypothesis is that it's a combination of all four.

It's also why I am pessimistic about Apple's ability to fix this to any significant degree.

New to Apple they are... There has always been issues with Apple software even under Jobs.

I will agree though, there seems to be something a little off about Apple here of late and it is probably a combination of the four things you mentioned.

iphone 14 Pro with iOS 26.0.1 in a 2020 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid LE.
In the Music app, when I go to my library and select "artists" it will not show my entire library...it only shows a list of "recently added". If I filter the Artists list to favorites, it also only shows "recently added". Even worse, when I touch the name of any artist, it doesn't go to a list of albums, it randomly plays one single song. Never had a single issue even close to this on my 2017 Kia Sportage.

I've tried five different Apple and Anker cables, I've restarted the head unit, removed my vehicle from the CarPlay section on the phone in settings>general>CarPlay. I've soft reset my phone.

The kicker is it will randomly work correctly so I can see my entire Library and Artists shows up correctly with albums listed within. I've plugged and unplugged. Plugged in before restarting the head unit, plugged in after. Plugged in while doing a iPhone restart, plugged after an iPhone restart. This issue is absolutely maddening! Any thoughts or ideas from any of you?

After further testing...

When the Rav4 is in EV mode (like at a stop light), it shows the artists/albums/etc. correctly. slowly driving and keeping it in EV mode keeps it correct. The second the gas engine kicks on, the display changes to "recently added" and the second I slow down enough to go back to EV mode, the display automatically switches again to the correct information.

I'm at a complete loss for that to make any sense and I can replicate the issues 100% of the time.
