Wireless CP has worked flawlessly for me on an iPhone 12 and 15 running 18.4 in a Nissan, much better than in other cars, wired or not. I think this is as much on car manufacturers as on Apple.

All good on my aftermarket unit (DuduAuto), and I’m now getting the third row of icons on the Home Screen.

My cheapo ($45) Wireless CP device didn't work first thing yesterday, whereas it's usually pretty flawless. Restarting the device fixed it and it was fine the rest of the day. Hopefully they fix this, I'm used to it "just working".

This bit me last night in a Mercedes. After resetting the phone, I had to re-accept the first time use agreement while stopped and then it started working again.

My own speculation, maybe in their desire to re-enable everyone’s AI settings, they had to reset more than just the one setting.

I think that's partly but not entirely true. We can't know what is in Tim Cook's head and heart, which means "he just hopes it will make him look good in a keynote" can neither be proven or disproven.

It's an enticing hypothesis because it's so damn simple, that "it's all one guy's fault".

Man how easy that would be!

I'm wholly convinced the truth is a lot more complicated than that.
Of course, I agree with that. But at the end of the day, Cook's job is to fix any subordinates that are not doing their job correctly and he has chosen to NOT do anything to fix the rotting software infrastructure at Apple. At some point it is not going to be fixable.

Chiming in. Haven’t had issues on the 2025 Honda civic hybrid. I had to turn off the audio and back on as sound was playing only in the middle speaker. Turning off/on the dash fixed it.

No issues for me with iPhone 13 Mini and Wireless CarPlay (via 3rd party dongle) all day yesterday on a long drive.

I had issues immediately after installing iOS 18.4 on my iPhone 16 Pro Max using its CarPlay with my 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge EV.

I gave up in despair and some days later tried again and things just worked as they did before the 18.4 update. Go figure this one out... :)

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and drive a 2024 Honda CRV with CarPlay. CarPlay is now nearly unusable with the iOS update. And, when CarPlay eventually drops my iPhone as a connection it also makes the phone unrecognizable in my Bluetooth connections.

It's funny that I'm not having any issues in my 2016 Hyundai i30, especially considering I'm using a hacky adapter to make it wireless!

CarPlay has been unreliable for me for a while now, ever since switching from Lightning to USB-C with the iPhone 15 to be specific

Sometimes it just disconnects in the middle of my trip, sometimes it refuses to engage unless I unlock the phone before connecting it

I'd replace the cable.

Yep. I've been getting random disconnects. Mostly in Phone calls. Just stops connection and then starts back up in about 30 seconds.

Multiple iPhone users are reporting problems with CarPlay functionality after updating to iOS 18.4, based on complaints on Reddit and elsewhere.

The most widespread issue appears to affect vehicles equipped with CarPlay instrument cluster integration. Some users said that after installing iOS 18.4, CarPlay no longer displays the currently playing song information on their car's instrument panel.

The instrument cluster bugs have been reported across numerous vehicle models including the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, 2025 Mazda CX-30, various 2024 Honda models, multiple Volkswagen vehicles, the 2023 Audi S3, and the 2023 Nissan Frontier.

Meanwhile, several users have complained that CarPlay completely fails to launch after the update, requiring multiple reconnection attempts - sometimes up to five tries - before the system will work. Others report broken Siri audio functionality that persists despite restarting both their iPhones and vehicles.

Users say they have attempted the standard troubleshooting steps like device reboots and system resets, but in many cases these workarounds have not resolved the issues. The problems appear to be directly linked to the iOS 18.4 update, as affected users report that everything worked properly before installing the latest version.

Apple has not yet acknowledged any CarPlay issues with iOS 18.4, so it's unclear whether a fix is in the works. Apple released iOS 18.4 earlier this week, and the only notable intended change to CarPlay is that the interface now shows a third row of icons (up from two rows previously), but only on vehicles with a larger display center. Have you had problems with CarPlay after updating? Let us know in the comments.

I am having the same issue. Really since I have purchased a Toyota Crown. Not sure what is going on lately. I have been through Toyota and Apple and no one seems to understand why CarPlay want connect or stay connected. When it is connected Maps does not work. I am at a loss at this point.

Honda Civic Advance 2024. Started getting buggy after 18.4 and would randomly refuse to connect wirelessly. Then it refused permanently to connect at all wirelessly or wired. After unpairing and repairing about 5 times I can now get it to connect wired. I updated 18.5 in the hope that the issue would be fixed but it hasn't, it's still the same- wired only works.
