Every real Apple fan should not want this money.
to adl for it is a disgrace.
Someone quoted in these forums that Apple went from being a company I love to one that I tolerate.

As I've said in this forum before, I came within a couple of days of buying a new iPhone because I noticed the lackluster performance on my 6s--and it was only the news that Apple was throttling their phones that made me stay me hand. While I believe that Apple might've been trying to save people's phones, I also firmly believe that the fact the people would go buy new phones was also a key factor in the decision to keep silent. I think Apple intentionally kept the throttling silent.

If you believe that a publicly traded company is interested in serving you OVER maximizing profits, you are in for some hard lessons in life.

Good. This will almost cover the cost of the $30 battery they installed that had WORSE life than the factory battery.

nice. got it for both my iP6 and wifes iP6. mine iP6 was horrible after that iOS upgrade and ended up having to replace the battery myself with iFixit. that did help for a little while but then apple had their battery replacement program so i went that route for an apple battery for $30. same with hers. doing this paid for those battery replacements.

Why is this US-only? Is there an EU version?

if not, we Europeans should also sue Apple. They admitted wrongdoing, and their behaviour to us was the same as to US customers.

Pretty much a typical "corporate America" lawsuit payoff. The lawyers get rich, the plaintiffs get a few pennies. On the other hand, companies like Apple can't fart in the wind without getting a class action lawsuit filed against them by some lawfirm hoping to get richer by convincing Apple customers they need to sue. Nobody wins but the lawyers.

There are no other countries than the U.S! Surprised the planets arent Mercury, Venus, U.S., Mars, etc /s

There stupid site doesn't work. Apple should pull this information from their records. I have had 2 iPhone 6, two iPhone 6s with battery issues, a 7 which I had the battery replaced in last year and a 7 Plus. It won't all ow me to look up my devices and it won't take the serial number from the device that I still have.

Yes it does allow looking up any device associated with your Apple ID.

Apple throttling devices with aging batteries to protect the user from the device shutting off is "one of the largest frauds in history"??

Apple's only mistake was not communicating this to the user or giving the user the option to run at full speed with the risk of shutting down vs. accepting the throttling. But Apple didn't implement this feature to harm consumers.

$25 is not going to make a difference in the lives of most iPhone owners. But the settlement will surely enrich the legal team that prosecuted this frivolous lawsuit.
But this isn’t the whole story, we also have the bad advice from Apple.

I went to an Apple reseller and they told me it was time for a new phone. They blamed things like the OS not being up to date (it was) and me charging my phone overnight. They did a test and my phone apparently had a healthy battery, even though they could see the battery percentage decreasing before their eyes. They refused to change the battery.

I got the battery replaced elsewhere and am now on my fourth 6S battery.

iOS 11 killed my iPod T6 too, within 20 minutes of installing 11 the battery swelled, it got racy hot, and the screen popped out.

should have been in the settlement!

Seems that Apple, lawyers, and consumers all won here.

Apple profited off their product, lawyers earned their fee, and consumers received discounted batteries and a $25 payout for an overblown issue that most consumers couldn't perceive existed.

So much this.

Time for our useless Federal .gov to break up Apple. They have de facto monopoly power now.

.gov is eschewing it’s duty under the federal antitrust acts.

In 2017-18 iPhone user takes his iPhone that was recently upgraded to iOS 10 into an Apple Store complaining about how slow it's gotten (before the throttling scandal had been revealed).
Apple sales rep says there's nothing that they can do about it - and how about buying a new iPhone!?!

Customer grudgingly concedes defeat and shells out $850 for a new iPhone that replaced a perfectly good phone.
Customer is out $850.

Three years later Apple concedes defeat to a class action lawsuit and agrees to compensate the affected customers.

They get a $25 check.

Almost covers the $30 we had to pay to get the battery replaced - nice!

Just have to dig out my old iPhone 6+ to find out what the serial number on it is...

You can just run your Apple ID and search for it. Apple sent them the entire database.

Just to give you a heads up, I had the 6, 6S and 7 Plus, I was able to claim the latter and not the other two. I don't know why you're limited to just one, but you should be allowed to claim all three prior to the date.

The iPhone 6 is probably the worst iPhone I've ever had, it was slow and dreadful to use once it got up there in age. My 7 Plus was great... up until I had some random error with the Clock app and it screwed up everything on the phone.

The 6S on the other hand, was a fantastic phone and never had a single issue with it. It probably was a little more sweeter for me since I had gone through a divorce, so it was liberation present to myself :D

Any one else able to claim more than one?

I am only signing up for this because the battery on the 6s was so bad. My phone would just shut off and randomly reboot around 30%. I had to drive to 2 different Apple Store that were over an hour away to finally get the battery replaced. I bought another 6s and it was a nightmare too and then I upgraded to the 7 Plus.

Also remember back then they wouldn't allow you to voluntarily pay out of pocket to replace the battery if it showed up on their diagnostics as being within spec. All of the above plus that is exactly what happened to me.

I had a iPhone 6, SE and two iPhone 7's, and all serials were found using the online tool through that claim website. Getting 4 settlement checks it seems.

I did one for my 6S and one for my wife's 6S, but I used her information on the second one. Literally took less than 2 minutes. The $25 is all dependent upon how many people make a claim, right? Or is $25 the minimum amount they allocated per serial number? And it could be more than $25 if not everyone makes a claim?

I was able to do 2 out of 3.

I want back and tried it again. They have my current address on file and not my previous ones. Wasn't able to do the 6S, but it was part of the iPhone Upgrade Program and I traded it for the iPhone 7 Plus in September 2016. I did get it for the iPhone 6 on top of my 7 Plus as well.

I didn't trade my 7 Plus to Apple and bought the phone out of its remaining program. T-Mobile had an awesome deal in 2018, you got a Series 3 Apple Watch for half off if you bought a new iPhone. I upgraded to the 8 Plus through them instead.

That was my top phone over my 6S was the 8 Plus. Super reliable and had little to no issues. Just rid of it for the 11 Pro just recently.
