I had three such phones: iPhones 6, SE, and 7. I will not be submitting a claim, as I think this is utter nonsense.
Apple throttling devices with aging batteries to protect the user from the device shutting off is "one of the largest frauds in history"??
Apple's only mistake was not communicating this to the user or giving the user the option to run at full speed with the risk of shutting down vs. accepting the throttling. But Apple didn't implement this feature to harm consumers.
$25 is not going to make a difference in the lives of most iPhone owners. But the settlement will surely enrich the legal team that prosecuted this frivolous lawsuit.
It sounds like the problem here was the reseller. But this isn’t the whole story, we also have the bad advice from Apple.
I went to an Apple reseller and they told me it was time for a new phone. They blamed things like the OS not being up to date (it was) and me charging my phone overnight. They did a test and my phone apparently had a healthy battery, even though they could see the battery percentage decreasing before their eyes. They refused to change the battery.
I got the battery replaced elsewhere and am now on my fourth 6S battery.
As long as those three devices have serial numbers which can be linked to you during the time period covered by the lawsuit - yes, absolutely.I owned 3 of those devices. can I get 3 $25 checks?
In what sense?this is going to be like the $125 settlement from the Equifax breach right, right?!
I agree!! I got the email and refuse to participate in this BS. People complain of planned obsolescence but Apple actually moved to extend the life of old devices to protect them from spikes causes when the battery naturally ages. Hopefully his money grad doesn’t change their view. The easier and more profitable move would be to let the device die or better yet leave it Vulnerable by only updating 1 or 2 year old devices.Every real Apple fan should not want this money.
to adl for it is a disgrace.
after reading this, i decided to search up my iphone 6 plus and iphone 7 plus serial numbers from my email. tried 10 times to submit the claim but the website wouldn't match up my serial."Apple will provide a cash payment of approximately $25 to each eligible iPhone owner who submits a claim"
Online submission took less than 2 minutes for me.
$25 for less than 2 minutes of my time is the equivalent of making approximately $750/hr.
You can use the search feature and have the site find it for you.Yea great, i got rid of that device years ago. Good luck finding that serial number now.
Did you try the search feature on the site?after reading this, i decided to search up my iphone 6 plus and iphone 7 plus serial numbers from my email. tried 10 times to submit the claim but the website wouldn't match up my serial.
wasted 6-7 minutes.
Darn, US only.
I had several of these, could have got $100 from them but that's US only.
Why is this US-only? Is there an EU version?
if not, we Europeans should also sue Apple. They admitted wrongdoing, and their behaviour to us was the same as to US customers.
There are no other countries than the U.S! Surprised the planets arent Mercury, Venus, U.S., Mars, etc /s
Pity it's only for US
Probably has to do with the lawsuit being a US one, given that this is a settlement related to said lawsuit.... and what about the 96% of the planets population who don't live in the USA? Come on Apple, pull your finger out.

I am the owner of an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus device that ran iOS 11.2 or later prior to December 21, 2017.
Well, the "class" gets millions too, it's just that those millions have to split among the individual members that are part of it.Class action lawsuits....gotta love 'em! Lawyers get paid millions while the class that demanded said reprimand, has to settle for mere dollars or cents.
What a system!
