Im sure this has been beat to death and I may get flamed for even posting but Im curious.
I am from MA and sure AT&T doestn have as good service as Verizon but I find it hard to believe its not that good considering ho wmany iPHONE users there really are.
I currently use a bb and I do like it although Im bored and the whole droid scene isnt intrigueing me.
So do I jump now? Or do I wait and see if there really will be a new iPHONE coming in June???

I'm in a similar situation -- my contract with Verizon ends in either May or June, I don't remember. I was gonna jump ship to AT&T & the iPhone whenever that happens. I can't see getting a cheap phone deal for a month until the new one comes out..

I agree, but it seems we'll have to change if we want the iPhone :(

Wait til June no matter what. Even if there is no iphone for Verizon in the summer, most people seem to believe that a new iphone for AT&T will be available in the summer. So either way, a little patience will probably get you a new version.

    No way this will happen.

I would be shocked if we don't see a new iPhone by June/July. I'll also be shocked if it's just an upgrade of the 3GS. So, wait, or stay with Verizon and get the Droid (just don't post here...we have enough trolls).

let make this easy for you. AT&T sucks where you live so it is a no go on the iPhone.

Step 1 and the most important step
choose the network that works best for you

never skip step one if you do do not complain about crappy service.
After you choose your network then choose what phone you want from the ones that work on that network.

If you can wait a few months you'll be happier regardless of which network you end up on because you'll have the newest iPhone.

Just wait for the next iPhone. If you get it now, you'll get an outdated model and be stuck in a 2 year contract. However, waiting till June will get you a newer model.

As per AT&T, sorry, Verizon ain't getting the iPhone any time soon.

Ya as for the Droid, that phone does nothing for me as I love a full touch phone so the Motorola is not what I want and the HTC is just meh...

The idea of a new iPHONE coming out in June, is this fact or pure speculation???

I have been an avid reader of these forums now for the past 3 years (started contributing much more recently though) and have seen a zillion and a half whiny posts about how terrible AT&T is, yadda, yadda, yadda. I've just never understood it personally. Am I just the one lucky guy in the crowd? I seriously doubt it.

I travel a lot for business and for pleasure...and I would never think of leaving home without my iPhone. I bring it with me everywhere, all day, all night. I've also not experienced problems with AT&T in my travels. Boston, NY (city and state), Wash DC, beach in North Carolina, mountains of West Virginia, Minneapolis, Las Vegas, all over Florida, around Dallas Texas, San Francisco, LA, Ohio....I get connected everywhere. The worst I've seen in the past 3+ years was that the connection was lost deep in the mountains briefly, or the server stopped responding due to high volume maybe a dozen times...which usually lasted less than a few minutes.

Over nearly 4 years and across a good selection of the country? I seriously can't imagine that being deemed "bad" service, but people will say it nonetheless. I am always left with the impression that someone posting how "rotten" AT&T is makes a point of amplifying their grievance...and we aren't really getting a good picture of things just reading about complaints on a forum. Sure, there are likely areas without coverage, but really...it is in no way dire like folks try to make it out to be.

Watch someone come along and start calling me an AT&T fanboy for saying that, in my experience, I think their network has very much done me well personally. I've been satisfied enough that even if the iPhone went to Verizon (my former carrier), I'd stay with AT&T and not think twice about it.

    ----

If you haven't bought an iPhone yet....it might actually be the safe bet to wait another 2 months and see what the next generation is like. In my estimation, no other phone out there could replace my 3gs...the competitors are just not attractive to me at all. I definitely am looking forward with anticipation as to what Apple will bring forward this spring though.

no he got it from experience. You honestly think AT&T has the best coverage everywhere? What if there's a building in the line of sight of the tower and his house but Verizon has full bars?

Where I'm moving AT&T has zero data and very little voice coverage and Verizon and Sprint have 3g. Should I keep AT&T because Luke Wilson says so or should I go with experience?

Go with Rodimus Prime's 2 step process.

Where did it say he had poor AT&T coverage? He asked someone else if AT&T had good coverage in MA, and someone replied stating it was good. Read the whole thread before replying.

Verizon Sucks in my area, and I get 5 bars/3G with AT&T and my iPhone 3G. I guess I should get rid of that, and go to Verizon, because some guy sitting in a living room, watching TV is asked to move because someone can't see through his red Verizon map?

Oh...friend of mine has the "Droid". What a POS...

I hope you are being sarcastic. I have two Iphones and love them, I've lived in an Edge only area since my first iphone and I have been okay with it.

Now that I am moving to a place without even edge you are telling me I should keep At&t when I can't even access data? No email? No internet? And only able to make calls if I drive around looking for it to switch from "no service" to one bar??????? I hope you are joking. If not i'd call you the fanboy.

I guess you can't read either. If you have good service then keep your good service, if you don't then change. My situation is just the opposite of you and you are telling me that I should keep At&t and not be able to use it. Good info.

Go with the network that serves you not the phone that you want.

I have Verizon and live in West suburban Boston, and it's tricky to make calls on Verizon; I can expect to either have no signal or drop the call about 40% of the time. Only time I get good connections is when I'm near a major highway like 128 or 3 or 95. Once I get closer to Boston the situation improves, but when you pass 128 going out Verizon's coverage isn't very good.

I been saying that long before Verizon started its crap and the poor AT&T part i got from the OP commenting about it.

Got to love the fact that some one points out logic and then gets called a Verizon Fanboy.

I might like to point out that I have been on Sprint Verizon, and AT&T. Hell I was on cingular when it was bought out by AT&T. I stayed on AT&T and when I split off my line from my parents I bought yep an AT&T phone.

I am still on AT&T because it is the network that is best for me.

    I followed my own advise.
Step one choose the network that works best AT&T and Sprint were my choose network wise. AT&T won out because most of my friends and family were on it so the M2M part.

Then I choose that phone that I liked the best and I went with Blackberry.

Nobody except Apple can say for sure, but I'd be willing to wager that we will see an Apple phone on Verizon (or at least an announcement to that effect) by the end of the year. My guess is that Apple will unveil a sexy new iPhone for AT&T in June and wait for the buying frenzy to subside before announcing some kind of Verizon offering.

Some people will vehemently disagree and I'd be willing to discuss my reasoning, but will not get sucked into an argument with anyone who takes an unpleasant tact.
