I’m actually paying less for my 12 pro max than I paid for my 11 pro max.
Sorry. I should clarified that I'm considering a refurb 11 Pro Max. Apple is selling the 256 GB models for $929. I also like that they come with the charging block. I have lots of charging blocks, including for my S8, but unfortunately they're all USB-A rather than C.

I really like the return to the squared edges on the 12, though. I prefer that look and wonder if it makes the phone dig into the skin and thus less likely to slip out.

Didn’t apple end up removing the charging adapter from their previous models as well?

After reading and commenting in this thread, knowing I use both Android and iOS, I have to say it comes down to personal preference. Both work well. Both are safe. Both have great apps. The “privacy” issue is overblown for these OS’s.

I prefer Apple hardware as it has generally held up better over time. What is strange is I usually upgrade my iPhone every 12-18 month while I keep my Android for years.

I prefer Android as I have found it to be more dependable and with less everyday use issues (software). My ideal device would be Apple hardware and Android OS.

Currently on a 12 Pro Max.
Currently on a Razer. Looking to update to the OnePlus 9 Pro when it comes out. Most likely.

Whatever you choose, enjoy it. If you don’t, you can always change.

Same here. No question that there just isn't anything on the Android side as far as hardware goes. Apple build amazing devices.

As far as the OS goes I definitely like Android more. Especially on a Pixel device which is pure Android like iOS is for Apple. In my opinion Android passed iOS a bit ago and is now a better OS and I'm not just talking about customizations either. Android is doing a lot better in a lot of areas. Some areas iOS is lagging far behind in or just flat out not even doing anything like it.

I get that this is an Apple enthusiast forum but I am really surprised by some of the replies here. It's pretty obvious a lot of people here haven't used Android in years and still have a jaded view of it. Android has come a long way from the joke it used to be.

I like the designs of different Android manufacturers - Samsung, Asus, OnePlus. Love that they all use USB C. They have faster charging, don't have notches. FP scanner is better nowadays. But none of that matters since Apple watch works only with the iPhone

I was thinking to drop my curiosity here rather than making a new thread:

Why iPhone ear speaker position is not placed like most current Android phones?

I mean if they can move the speaker grill to the top or near the screen edge, the notch would be significantly reduced, no?

Not that I hate the notch, it doesn’t bothers me and I think it looks cool as an iPhone front screen differentiator.

Is the conventional positioned ear speaker grill still the best in producing best sound quality to the ear?

The notch isn't there solely to accomodate the speaker. That's also where the front-facing camera and Face ID scanner are located, and that's the main reason the notch is that size.

Yes I’m aware of that.
But if they move the speaker grill to the top, the notch would accommodate lesser hardware and can be made narrower to provide more status icons on the sides.
Not that I think it would look prettier, LOL (like on the Pixel 3 XL for instance).

I totally get what you are saying and a setup like this exists, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro I have for review has a dual earpiece setup as you can see in the below image, the sound while you are on a iPhone call comes out of that little slit in the screen as well as that speaker grill at the top of the phone, that top speaker grill also doubles as a loudspeaker in the same way the iPhone earpiece does.

Yes, both the slit on the screen and the top grill is what I’m talking about.
Maybe Apple approach would not be something like dual earpiece, but I can’t imagine myself if only the slit can provide speaker output, nor only top speaker can act as an earpiece.

Maybe this is why Apple still going with the conventional route. Dual earpiece would not be seemed as Apple design language approach. And the existing proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, front camera and face ID would still be too much hardware to reduce the notch width. But still, Android phone manufacturers can hid all those above (excluding face ID) leaving only the front camera.

That's happening this year, the notch is getting smaller vertically, staying the same width though, how else is Tim apple going to get the iPhone 12 owners to upgrade this year. 😁🤪😂

Haha vertical shrinking is not going to make a lot of differences.
I’d consider upgrading for that rumored in display touch ID though, if it works the supposedly Apple way.

Not impressed with the current under screen fingerprint scanners, still not reliable enough for me like Face ID, if anyone can perfect that technology it's apple.

120hz, smaller notch, won't be enough to get me to upgrade from my 12 Pro Max this year.

Hopefully i'll have my first 8" foldable iPhone in 2022 😁 not betting my house on it though. 😂

Can't see apple releasing a foldable line until they can iron out all the issues, weak plastic screen, crease on the display, reliable hinge. maybe 2024-25 😱🥺

Got to admit the latest Huawei foldable destroys the fold 2 🤦‍♂️😂 still not perfect though.

Apple one of these please 👇 no crease, stronger inner display, no stupid pill camera on front display.

Can you elaborate?
Maybe he’s referring to the fact that with iOS, work profiles are just baked into the regular experience and the work apps act no differently than others, whereas with Android there are so many concerns with security that there’s literally a gated sandbox environment just for work apps to be as separate from regular apps as possible.

Or maybe he’s referring to the fact that Android phones nowadays still need like 4x the RAM to compete with iPhones.

Or maybe he’s referring to how the software is so mature and refined that Google basically redesigns it every 2 years.

Or maybe he’s referring to all the initiatives Google has started and ultimately scrapped, such as all the various different messaging apps, video call apps, Android technologies, etc.

Or could he possibly be referring to how Play store has literal viruses in it requiring many Android users to get anti virus software on their devices.

Hard to know which one he’s referring to but I tend to agree, Android is soooo far ahead 🙄

Yeah I don’t care about 120hz too. Doesn’t wowed me on my iPad Pro.

Foldable screen also doesn’t impress me on phones, maybe on tablet will interest me.

Never the less, interesting to see how Apple will probably try to enhance both under screen finger print scanner and foldable screen compared to Android manufacturers.

Look’s like it maybe happening.

i don’t understand the use of always on display if all you need to do is “tap to wake” what takes more battery ? the display pixels or the sensor waiting for the single tap. the people wanting, always on and 120 hz, are also going to get a smaller battery.. it’s almost guaranteed at the point.. and them same people are going to complain about battery life.

Agree, considering how our phones are always on us or right next to us, not hard to tap your screen once. 🙄 no need for AOD, useless feature.
