I think exalted719 is right. The battery drain is much faster than before after tinkering with iPhone's power management folder... :(

I reverted back without the hack and the problem immediately came back.
My iPhone didn't wake up this morning again.

So I think we've narrowed it down to the power management bundle.
Now, how do we fix that?

Do you guys also have the camera crashing problem? everytime I click the camera icon it starts the camera then it blinks and reboots the iPhone.
My 16GB 2G iPhone worked perfectly for two days then had the waking problem and the camera crashing problem ever since. The firmware upgrades didn't help as my iPhone worked briefly (I was able to take few photos and no waking problem) then all the problems came back after rebooting.
I don't have the battery draining problem after applying the temporary fix.

No I do not have the camera problem. Perhaps they are two separate problems?

Have you tried setting it up as a new phone and not syncing anything on it to see if that prevents the camera problem? Bad config files backed up could be restored back onto a fresh iphone.

For others who have this problem, please post what you have tried.

I'm currently tinkering with the config plist for the power management bundle. May be I can disable the iPhone's "hibernate mode".

In my iPhone, the camera and waking problem seems to be related because when my iPhone's camera was working then there was no waking problem. The waking problem only occured when the camera started crashing.
I've tried every possible fixes but the problems persist.

annnnnddd.... i think i have a fix!

i'll wait a lil longer to see if the problem persists.

currently i have no issues waking, and no significant battery loss.

I'll post here again once I make sure its working like it should.

i think i know where my problem is..
my brightness auto adjust is not working so everytime i put it on sleep mode after a while it will hang.. maybe you can also try to find out where to fix this.. i am looking for the file to disable the autocontrol of the brightness not just in the setting.

The battery drain (with the power management folder fix) is killing me :( I only get about 24 hours (standby+usage)...

exalted719, please share your genius :)

I had the same problem here...

I´ve instaled Insomnia from Cydia, that app make your iphone still working after you clicked sleep Mode Botton. And the iphone doesn´t die.. But this app uses up a lot of battery power.

I've read that this problem comes with Firmware 1.1.3, but this forum topic is the best place to find information about this issue... So, if any body can help...

Tks!

Hi exalted719,
Thanks for sharing the file but it doesn't work on my iPhone.

It looks like exalted719's fix is working. I backed up my original file and then overwrote that with his. My iPhone hasn't gotten stuck so far, and the battery drain has returned to normal.

I'll post an update within a week. Thanks :)

P.S. EmNat, neither exalted719 nor I have the camera crashing problem. If his fix doesn't work on yours, then the root of the problem (despite the same symptoms) may be different from ours.

Hi elfenlied102938,
I agree with you, I thought this would fix the waking and camera problems but unfortunately it didn't work on my iPhone.

hey exhalted--I'm curious to know what value you changed in the plist file. I could diff them, but it's faster to ask what and why. :)

Och. Hate to say it, but after swapping to the updated plist, I'm having the no wakeup problem again. :(

Oh noes! nanoflux is right. Just now my iPhone got stuck again. :( The problem is back... so I'm back to square one.

Hey exalted719, you sure you haven't had the problem since? Could it be that you were "lucky" the whole time (which I seriously doubt though :()...

I havent had the problem whatsoever.
The problem is completely gone!

I'd advise you guys to try again, and make sure you reboot your phone.
Also, make sure the permissions match the original file just in case.

Again, I have not had the problem EVER again.

Hi exalted719,
Thanks for getting back to us (even though you no longer have this problem :D). I did reboot my iPhone after the replacement. It has failed only twice over the last 3 days, but it's still a problem.

What do you mean by "permissions match the original file just in case."? Can you tell us how to check/do this step by step?

Thanks a lot!

When you put the file on to your iPhone, right click it after and go to "Properties". There should be a section in there that mentions "Permissions". Make sure it is set to 644.

Also, make sure that the file is placed in the correct directory and that you have not modified the name of the file. Make sure you rename your original to something else like adding .bak for backup purposes.

If you have any more trouble you can contact me through PM so i may help your through MSN or something.

I'm having the same prob with mine - started 2 weeks after I received it. Weirdly, it only wakes up if I press the home button then the top right corner of the screen (!) also been having sync issues (ie the phone "disconnects" from itunes half-way through a sync)

taking to the London Apple Store tonight to see what they say - will let you guys know if I get anything useful.

Omg My Phone Won't Fix

Hey Exalted719 think you can help me?

I tried what you said the first time about changing the com.apple.SystemPowerProfileDefaults.plist file by adding a 2.

Significant Battery Loss

Than I added the plist file you uploaded, erasing the original, that worked for about a few hours than my phone got stuck again.

Any Suggestions??? I am currently google-ing it to see if I can find any other answers and haven't found any.

Plz Help!! Thanx

I'm with Manny1987 - I've tried it twice already (the permission is at 644 by default), and my phone is still dying :( I'm using WinSCP to drag and overwrite your file from my desktop to my phone...I don't think I'm doing anything wrong there.

Exalted719, sorry to bug you, but could you try re-uploading your modified .plist file? Maybe you uploaded the original file by accident.

Thanks.

P.S. I hope Apple fixes this problem in firmware 2.2. It looks like even non-jailbroken/unlocked phones are affected by this problem (mine is jailbroken & unlocked). This problem appeared when I upgraded from 1.02 to 2.0 :(

I once again made the change in my iPhone but this time I added the original file as a .bak.

Once I did that I turned my iPhone completely off and then turned it back on.

Its been a day so far no problems, if any thing new occurs I'll be sure to write again.
