Also updated my app Only One and snuck in an optional notch hider (shhh.. don't tell Apple). It hasn't been tested on a real device yet, but I felt the notch would be a huge distraction to the game and generally any landscape app that I included it and you can judge for yourself!

I really appreciate given the option to switch between a notched and notchless landscape mode as the user, and will probably give your app a try despite not hearing about it before. At least the user gets to choose where/when they have the notch if they like it or not rather than being shoehorned into it.

Granted, once Apple has discovered that you've done this they'll probably make you take it out unfortunately.

Overcast just updated

What's New in Version 4.0
- Tons of miscellaneous UI updates and fixes
- Replaced stacked-cards interaction with horizontal navigation for simplicity and reachability
- iOS 11 drag and drop (basic for now, more coming later)

New in Nitpicky Details:
- One-tap-play option
- 3D Touch is now optional, and off by default to avoid interfering with drag-and-drop

I just gotta add screenshots to my app when I get my iPhone X today and my app is good to go :) I get better screenshots when I’m using the device rather then apples simulator anyone who want to check it out search “ Facesticks ” in the App Store :)

I had expected that to be Apple's design guidance (although not the rounded corners on the notch side) and was really surprised when they explicitly forbade it.

A lot of app developers and Apple fans have complained about the notch being an obstruction to immersion. I think it will be a non issue to most but I'm going to hold my own judgement till I use the phone. It's unfortunate that Apple explicitly does not want devs to obscure the notch.

Anyways by default the notch hider is off, and only curious players will ever find the option. But I put it in to start a discussion on wether the most controversial feature of this phone is a hinderance or not to immersion and the user experience.

I'd like to see some of those demos like Epic Citadel be updated ... would really shine on the "X" (or an equivalent since last update was 2013)

I don't understand why Apple couldn't have gone with option #2 for full screen videos

Or a third way to view movies in addition to current two that looks like that

There will be a jailbreak tweak for it

I think notch or no notch, parts of a video will have to be cut out since even just eliminating the notched area doesn't get it to a 16:9 aspect ratio correct?

Which is unfortunate but I guess you can watch with the bars. I guess the extra space should be welcome in games and other apps that can make use of it.

Don't knock it til you try it....I personally feel like even though in pictures it looks intrusive, that once you actually have the device in your hand that notch will like seem to "disappear" once you are accustomed to it....We'll find out tomorrow for sure how everyone feels about it :)

Very true.

Wait time is alMost over !!

Hopefully this time apps will update faster than they did with the bigger iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Since the point width didn't change from the 4.7" devices, it shouldn't be too tricky to update if you already support adaptive UI.
