Since every iPhone has had this, I’m assuming it’s normal once again, but does everyone else’s X camera rattle very quietly when you hold the phone upright and tap sideways just above the side button?

Mine has a slight rattle. All my iPhones have a slight rattle near the camera.

No, and none of mine have had it (that I know of).

Did only the Plus models have it before? Because my 7 definitely didn’t rattle.

ETA: I tried it again, and once I heard something that maybe could be a rattle, but I might have been my finger.

Oh, believe me, they’ve all had it. :)

Nope, mine does not rattle at all.

They all rattle. See a doctor you might have impaired hearing.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Remove case
2. Using your middle finger and thumb to hold from the sides (at the middle of the phone) and suspend the iPhone face down
3. use index finger to tap (once) the back of the phone near the top (in the area of the camera)

Result: you will here a short but very slight rattle send .

If sound is not heard repeat steps until sound is reproduced.

I beg to differ.

I've tested with those step with cases off and does not rattle at all. And no I don't have hearing issues as I can hear things very clearly.

The rattle is OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). It’s on every iPhone that has OIS because the camera is literally suspended. When you tap it you’re knocking the camera sensor into the frame it is suspended in. It’s working as intended and there isn’t nothing physically wrong with your iPhone.

Oh, well, like I said, I didn’t have Plus phones, so this is my first phone with OIS. Therefore, this is the first phone I would have with the rattle.

As for this phone, I was only able to produce a slight—very slight—rattle once.

Yeah, it’s very slight. It’s not OIS, though, as it’s been there on every iPhone since day one.
