I was under the same impression.

I think the wired fast charging is enabled by default. It is the wireless fast charging capability that needs to be updated and you need a fast charging capable wireless charging pad of course.

So with an update it’ll charge 7.5w and it currently charges... 5w?

That is what I understand yes. Read it in a another thread last week but can't remember the exact one.

I use the 29W adapter for my iPad Pro and it chargers very fast

Was hoping to enjoy the same with iPhone X. Sad it will not be that big of a deal.

I have a question regarding wireless charging.

If we use a Samsung Fast wireless charger and and Samsung Fast charger, will the iPhone X charger faster wirelessly compared to regular wireless chargers?

It will as soon as Apple releases the iOS update that allows fast charging via Qi. Right now the 8/8+/X only support 5W wireless Qi charging. They say an update will allow fast Qi charge, but don't specify which update or when.

The Mophie fast charger is 7.5W vs 5W standard, and Apple sells the 7.5W Mophie now, even though it's not fully supported for Fast Qi yet. My Samsung Fast Charge Stand does 9W max, but I don't know the max output for my Samsung Fast Charge Pad.

So far 30 min 7plus on 29w and usb-c to lightning yield 30 percent

On X it was 50
At hour X was 80

...I’ll update as soon as the hour wraps up on 7plus juicing it

Edit: 60 percent at 1hr

So essentially dead battery 50 percent in 30 min on X or 60 percent for an hour on 7plus

Dead battery topped off for 30 min is most efficient use of fast charge on X imo

I get 52 - 56% in 30 minutes. I’m happy.
