yet still apps haven't adopted to the beautiful oled display of the iPhone X come on developers kick it up a notch

[...] And most who see mine say it’s the first one they have seen.
Same. The other day someone told me I’m the only one they know that has one right now.

90% of the apps I use have been updated. The ones that haven’t are a massive eye sore.

Parsing words is a talent and a science.

Not included in that mix is the iPhone 7, the regular model, which is still being sold in droves.

Apparently, it is beating them all in unit numbers.

Expect that to be discontinued very soon.

Right after that, Apple will announce that the iPhone X is the best selling iPhone. :D

I'm afraid you're right.
X it is just the first one of a long series of phones above the $1000 price point. I hope they'll continue to sell new models at the usual price point, like iPhone 8 this year.

Well, you have to keep one thing in mind - as a downside of this you will not get the newest features anymore at the time of their announcement. So Apple basically installed a premium above the low cost iPhone and the regular one. I don’t like it that way.

People were sick of a 4 year old design, shocker

FYI, it has been 3 years since the 6 came out. Why is nobody ever able to count when they make these cliche comments about old designs?

You have zero proof of this, as far as anyone knows this was a one time thing.

Well, Apple developed and shipped the iPhone X for two reasons: Introduce new technologies and testing the price sensivity of its customer base. While the former for sure is welcome, the latter will tell them that customers are even willing to pay even more allthough iPhones are already on the top of that list. So we already know now which direction we're heading.

That's a very good point so $2000 iPhones within the next 5 years...I'm out.

Sure, it‘s all about rumors here, right?

This year they put enough features on the 8, you have the same A11 chip as X and you have inductive charging.
Let's see what they do next year, I'm confident they're going to keep an "entry level" phone at the usual price point but I don't think they'll make an 8s, people are tired about the design. They could offer X at a lower price point, or have a brand new model with a similar design but lower specs, I don't know.
And I'm not happy about that as well, the usual price point is already high and having to pay even more to get the latest and greatest is getting hard to justify. I can afford it, but I don't feel like spending more than $1000 for a smartphone.

I am in Shanghai and till now have seen ONLY 3 iPhone X. Most people have iPhone 7/8 or local Chinese brand such as Vivo, Oppo, Huawei.

Well, I agree. But you have to admit that the killer features this year of course were only available for the iPhone X. So as you say, iPhone 8 was a solid update. But even for a solid update the price point is too high, though lacking some features. That's the difference compared to the last year where you also payed 1000€ but owned the maxed-out phone available. Let's see.
