Hi...I have noticed that when I am taking photos...with front or back camera...at night or in dark....that the image on the screen...i.e. the viewfinder....is very grainy and snowy...best way to describe it...like the reception on an old tv with an antenna...after taking the photo...the photo generally does not have the grain/snow...maybe some...but not as much as one sees on the screen before taking the photo....is this normal?

Thanks

Completely normal. This is the sensor gain being increased to be able to give you a live view in low light. It's the same effect as shooting at super high ISO, only that it lowers the ISO for the actual photo.

The same effect can be seen in electronic viewfinders and read LCDs on mirrorless cameras, and rear LCDs on most if not all cameras with live view.
