hi I am going to be buying a iPhone x as a gift for a friend at xmas I am wondering if I order the phone at the end of November should I receive the phone before Christmas?

Impossible to say. Looks like orders placed in early November may well be back ordered into December so an or placed at the end of November (I assume due to availability of funds) runs the risk of shipping in 2018. Why not place an order earlier as the amount won’t be charged until shipping

Entirely dependent when or if you preorder. If you don't, then expect into 2018 to receive it.
You have no chance if you order in November. You will need to order on the 27th October
It really all depends. The demand for this phone is 50 Million with 12 million by Nov 3 launch day. This iPhone could very much be delayed until way into 2018, or it could be a major fail with the price, face unlock, the notch..etc and anyone can walk in or online and get it within days. We will know exactly what shipping will be 2 minutes after Preorders go live

Yes, will be unlocked, but GSM only, so you won’t be able to use it with Verizon or Sprint

I don't know who came up with this number, but that person probally thought buying the iPhone X is something similar as buying a super sized meal at McDonalds.
in my world $1000+ is still $1000+, even with a 12 or 24 months payment plan or buying outright.
You see a lot of posts here at the macrumors forums of members who will do their outmost best to sound like $1000 is ''just a few bucks a month extra''.

There are a lot of people who aren’t willing to pay ~$800 for “The Second Best iPhone”
I would say that's dependent on what somebody wants from an iPhone and which model iPhone they upgrading from to appreciate the latest technology and the price point.
Trying to pin down an estimate at this stage, is like trying to nail jello to a tree.
I do stuggle to see why 50 million people would want to pay £1000 for a phone on pre order days especially I just can’t see it but I suppose there are 50mil like me
