Been using my iPhone X without a case since I got it in November. Dropped it a few times and only got light scuffing around the steel band.

Today I dropped it about 4 feet onto tile floor. It slid across the floor on the screen. I got a long scratch on the glass, hardly noticeable, but it is deep enough to catch a fingernail. It also got some pretty deep scratches on the back glass on one of the corners.

I would honestly say that this phone is very durable. For the phones glass not to get any scratches until it has been dropped onto tile floor is amazing!!

I do have AppleCare+. So i'm not really worried about a thing. I know that the next dropped, I might not get so lucky because the glass has been damaged.

I think everyone's experience will vary with drops and angles when it comes to an iPhone surviving a Fall, regardless if it's the X or the iPhone 8. But Applecare certainly comes into play for those who are more prone to dropping things.

Used my X caseless and got tons of light scratches, both on the band and rear glass. I'd say your experience alone does not define a phone as durable. Any device made primarily of glass will be considered fragile.

Dropped my X first time after 3 months.
pretty funny after my heartbeat resumed.
It somersaulted off the top of the vanity, slid across top on toilet seat (so glad I’m not a guy ;), and landed face down in the shampoo rack at edge of tub.
no worse for its exercise in altitude reduction.

Edit: As an Olympic event, call this the Lav Luge. :)

The glass is noticeably different. With my past iPhones the front panel of my phone was covered in light scratches after a month of use. My iPhone X had a flawless screen up until what happened today.

I don’t k is if I would call it ‘durable’
Maybe we’ll constructed is a better choice
As I’ve seen many people with broken screens on an iPhone X

Actually, as somebody as myself who has participated in many of the iPhone threads in this forum, there are a lot of members who are not pleased with the durability of the iPhone X display scratching easily over past iPhone model displays. There are many threads on this if you search, which there has been lots of speculation if Apple changed something with the display or the oleophobic coating. Even for those who said they have taken good care of their iPhone X, have had scratches in some form or another without a screen protector, which Other iPhone models seemingly had more durability without a screen protector.

For me it’s pretty durable as well. Haven’t dropped it yet but have been caseless since day one. Just minor scratches on the screen you can see in certain light.

As far as the coating scratches go I think that is just a factor of whatever tolerances they allow in the coating. I always go caseless and my iPhone 6 held up way better than my 6S and 7 did. Personally my X is doing great.

It just occurred to me that the X is the only iPhone I've ever had that I put a case on the day I got it and haven't taken it off since. I'd like to think the thing can take a beating if need be, but I'd also never take a chance of that glass back shattering if I can help it.

Which is a minor bummer since it's a pretty great looking phone, and actually feels great in the hand sans case.

I always carry my phones naked. For the X I ordered front and rear glass protectors and a spring clip holster. I have Apple Care + so if I break it, no worries. I hate cases and I usually don't do screen protectors but I was worried about scratches to the rear. I might not apply the front protector but I definitely will put the rear on.

Been naked since day 1 dropped 2 times now, both on my drivers seat and opened door and jumped out , first time face down stone driveway from 3 feet, not a scratch. last time same scenario in garage on cement bounced around not a scratch!!! The stainless steel is way more durable along with the glass.

I know you were contemplating the X earlier in another thread, Congrats on your X purchase and enjoy it.

Can be as durable as it wants but if apple wants to slow your device down to a crawl they will and you will be buying a new one. Man Apple has been screwing up. From slowing down the phone to high sierra update causing huge problem Its not hard to know that it's not the same company when Bill Gates was running things. Smarten up Apple. Not likely will I be buying another Apple product and I use to buy many.

Double edge sword, put it in a case and the paint flakes off, don’t put it in a case, and the damn thing gets microscratches from your pockets and fingers.
