My 8+ systematically gets faster speedtest results than my X, same network, place, etc.

Above you can see the tests plain and simple it may be nice, have a nice display and all. But due to various lawsuits against Qualcomm. The iPhone X just doesn't have the best Radio chipset for LTE data it simply fails at being a phone when you need it period.

This is utter nonsense. My work requires me to split time between San Jose and NYC. During the work week, it doesn't matter what kind of bandwidth is theoretically possible because there is too much congestion to make any real world difference. Today at 10AM in SJC, I am seeing about 2 mbps on Tmobile and my coworker with an S8 is seeing the same. Furthermore, there are dead spots everywhere. Stop complaining about theoretical specs that you know nothing about and complain to TMobile and other carriers to add more data capacity. When TMobile has excess data capacity, sure complain all you want about how slow your phone is.

No issues here on 4G getting 80+ down, 40+ up on my X.

And that's with the Intel chip.

I think that buyers need to have all the infirmation before buying. For example in a fringe remote area because the iPhine X has slow neutered LTE Radio a person in need may not have a strong signal or data when they need it in a critical time.

Fringe remote areas will be the last places to get upgraded to Gigabit LTE if ever, so your example is completely false. Furthermore, the article you linked only covers data speed and NOT signal strength. Stop spreading fake news.

BGR is a garbage-tier tech site. It has been for years.

This.

And also from Wiki about who "BGR" Boy Genius Report is:

"While running BGR, Boy Genius kept his identity concealed. On April 27, 2010, Boy Genius revealed himself as Jonathan Geller, a 23-year-old Greenwich High School dropout who never attended college. Geller chose to remain anonymous at first due to the marketing opportunities that being anonymous afforded him and his site; however when BGR joined Penske Media Corporation Geller decided it was best for both him and his site that he reveal himself as the site's founder and Editor in Chief."

Ask me why am I not concerned?

My iPhone 7+ never had fast LTE speeds. For some reason, AT&T in NYC is awful. I max out at 10mbps up and down. They keep saying that they are going to improve the network, but it still hasn't happened. Unless it's the Intel modem that Apple is using. Either way, I have no control over it. So, for me, anything above what I am getting now is an upgrade.

Doesn't matter to me. Most I can ever get is approx 100Mbps [megabits], and this was on an apple store in Melbourne when i do go past it at sometimes.

That's plenty fast enough for me. I'm happy with my phone's speed its snappy enough for me.

imo pointless article, sure the note 8 can get faster speeds but thanks to Australia's lack of fast progression in mobile speeds [4g], i doubt we can even hit the theoretical limit here. So all in all doesn't bother me

[Disclaimer this is just my opinion] ymmv.

gigabit lte isnt even a thing yet. why would they include it? it'll be 18 months or so before it really start to be rolled out. by then the new iphone will be out and probably support it

Yeah and who knows how much extra the carriers will charge for that.

Considering I went from having one to two bars in my apartment and never exceeding 15Mbps on my 7 Plus, my V30 has been a worthy upgrade. I can keep signal in BFE.

If Intel works for you, great. I'm glad my Qualcomm modem in my V30 hasn't been crippled (No antennas removed). To each their own.

“Oh no, another phone beats the iPhone with a value unobtainable for two more years! The iPhone is horrendous!”

I say relax. It functions far beyond the required and desired functions of a phone.
