Is there anyone that knows where to get a brand new oled screen for the iPhone X that is actually of good quality? Ive searched online but the only seller I found was ifixit and it costs $400. or should I just go to the apple store and shell out $279

There would be no third party OLED screens. If you found one it would likely be used as Apple does not sell parts. Cheaper and best to go to the Apple store.

This. Going another route other than Apple has the potential to void the warranty. And on something as expensive as the X, that is not something I personally would want to mess with.

If you’re not aware, Apple uses Samsung’s OLED panels, even if there were optional third party OLED panels, I question if it would be the quality that Samsung’s is. I would rather much pay for an OEM part versus something at cheaper price point that may not have the quality hardware that Apple utilizes with the iPhone.
