The X (174g) is the 4th heaviest iPhone ever. It weighs 2g more than the 6 Plus.

My Pixel only weighed 143g. My G5 weighs 159g and it already can feel bulky after holding it for awhile. People are only noticing the height and width but not the heft.

It's quite heavy for a phone with those dimensions. The iPhone 6 is the lightest offering 4.7" (129g). The 7 only weighs 138g.

I like my SE. Only 113g and my right thumb can reach all four corners of the screen that I can't do on a 4.7" iPhone. No Reachability required. Worth every cent I paid for it.

Maybe next year's upgrade will shave weight off the X... just like they did iteratively with the iPads.

Use two hands when ever possible. Once you feel pain in your pinky it’s already been hurt so it will take time for it to heal.

It really is quite noticeably heavier than the iPhone 7. I noticed this on the first day. But I guess I’ve gotten used to it.

That could be it too for me. With my 7 I can basically go one handed and almost reach the corners with my thumb with some minor adjustments. The 7 isn’t that much lighter on paper but it sure makes a difference with the X. Since the X is taller and heavier it makes a difference for me. My pinky gets cramped up with the X. The taller screen puts more pressure on my pinky when I use my thumb when I use it to access control center for instance which I use a lot.

I have been using my pinky as a phone shelf with my Plus-sized iPhones as well, no issues. The X feels very light to me now.

Laugh and call it a first world problem if you wish, but I too am currently experiencing pinky strain in the same manner. I'm not an inactive person either. Strain of any joint can occur when you are doing something that you normally didn't do before. I went from a 5S to the X, so the size and weight increase was significant. With having to access the control center from the top right and other different tasks associated with the X along with the size and weight difference, it's not surprising to me at all that I'm experiencing this. In fact, I googled "pinky strain iphone x", and this was the first hit, which is why I'm here. Was just curious if I was the only one and apparently I'm not.

As with any injury, it takes time. You need to be careful not to keep straining it, and let it heal. Then gradually begin to work it harder so that it builds up the strength and memory to use the phone without injury.

Repetitive strain injuries are commonplace now, and just because it's a "pinky" and it's because of using a cellphone doesn't make it funny, nor any less uncomfortable.

I’m the OP and no more pinky strain got an iPhone 8 now.

I actually like the X, so I'm going to tough it out. 🙂
[doublepost=1511995011][/doublepost]By the way, I've tried a bunch of different methods of using a smartphone without the pinky shelf and I can't see how it's even possible. Especially with anything larger than a 5S. Unless you're using your phone horizontally, which I don't see many people do.

I’m comfortable with the pinky shelf and tried many ways with the X and even dropped it lots of times. My hands are big enough for the 8 to rest on pinky shelf and grip iPhone 8 with my fingers.
