iPhone X Production Supposedly Going Much Slower Than Apple Originally Planned

Good advice.

When the watch first launched, I wanted the stainless model... all the 42mm stainless options I saw at 3:01 effectively launched at 1-2 weeks shipping time, I compromised on a black sport band because with the band I wanted, 4-6 weeks.

Going much further back, the iPhone 4 hit the store and famously the white model was “not available”, it would take almost 10 months for it to appear, Steve Jobs even said on the 4S launch “we’ll be shipping white from day one!”

From all the rumors and a few little birdies inside, I just get the odd feeling that iX will have some weird availability compromise on launch day... internally my one birdie is in engineering and as he puts it “not a lot of 10s around, which is weird because it’s weeks away, but hardware still feels scarce like it’s under wraps, usually new models are all over campus post the public announcement, but still as of now they’re tough to get for testing and they’re being loaned out on daily basis like library books, not issued to engineers as pre-release devices usually are. I’m spending more time in the simulator on the X at this point than I expected, figured I’d have a pre-release handset to build with...”

I ordered 2 of the original Watch at preorder, for arrival on launch day. Both were 38mm, though. One was a Milanese loop for me, one was a black sport band for my husband (he dislikes large watches). My husband wanted the link, but the shipping was crazy, so I ordered the link separately, figuring he'd need sport band for exercise and such.

We both had watches on launch day. I ultimately decided I wanted a 42mm, and was able to snag one in store shortly after, returning the 38mm.

So, yeah... I had one on launch day. But, I was willing to compromise on that band for my husband's watch to do it. He did get the link about 2 weeks later. People who ordered the watch with link band were furious on here about how they should be ahead of the line since they ordered a whole watch, but when I ordered a band at 12:05 Pacific and they ordered their watch 10 minutes after I ordered my band, why would Apple make me wait? After all, I spent more money AND I had also wanted the link, but calculated the fastest way to get what I needed.

Ultimately, some people here got the link before we did, but they were mostly pleasant types who didn't get all bent over thinking they should be moved to the head of the queue.

People are strange at launch time. :)
