Because it creates an issue with the balance. When I got my MacBook Pro with touch bar last year the pre authorizations and then the actual charge almost created a situation where my card was maxed out.

If something is 1799 for example then they should simply charge that plus tax and that’s it.

Last year when they did the pre authorization I had to call for a limit increase.

That’s why I am buying a gift card for the Apple store and ordering the phone that way so that I can ensure there is no authorization aka temporary double charges.

So it’s a big deal to me. We all can’t be money bags like you where having thousands of dollars tied up is no issue.

Not trying to judge, but it doesn’t sound like you can afford to be purchasing a $1,000 + iPhone then.
 

Well the availability is getting a lot better so hopefully by middle of next month this restriction will be removed.

I disagree. It’s one thing to pay 1099 but I shouldn’t have to worry about additional funds being tied up.

If I buy a plane ticket for 1099 that’s all that is actually taken care of. You can take your privileged response and put them some place where the sun don’t shine.
