Are you using a screen protector in your iPhone X?

OLED seems to show more micro scratches Remember it’s an OLED PLASTIC SCREEN
Best bet is a screen protector will save you aggravation down the road. And if the screen protector gets scratches you can easily put another one on

LOL sometimes I do wonder if people think before they type. The screen is glued to a glass substrate (gorilla glass) which is then covered in the oleophobic coating. Same as the IP7 and prior. Also an LCD screen is made from plastic. Have you ever seen a computer monitor?

Tried one of the glass screen protectors off Amazon the other day. Unfortunately they had a few disadvantages that were a deal breaker for me:
1. They dont cover the whole screen
2. There was a noticeable lip on the edges catching my thumb especially in swipe back gestures
3. The added layer of glass is very visible on the screen and it destroys the laminated screen feeling of the iPhone - its like using a 3GS screen all over again due to the additional light diffractions

So it went off as quick as it went on. Might try one of the full face wrap around ones one of these days. For the back through, I agree that a back glass protector is a good choice, especially if you are using it without a case (as I do) and want a bit of protection from daily use.

Since I bought the super expensive AppleCare with this phone, I’m just using an Apple leather case with no screen protector. If the drop shatters the phone I’m covered and I don’t I think I’ll mind micro scratches.

I'd rather invest in a screen protector then having my phone all scratched up. I just hate scratches on Screen. My Day 1 iPhone X had a scratch on the screen out of the box. but I ended up returning that on Day 13 and picked another one up without the scratches the next day, and put a screen protector right when I unboxed it (I made sure there were no scratches, because if it did had another scratch out of the box, it was going back).

I keep my phones for exactly one year as I've been doing for quite some time with trade ins and now the Apple upgrade program.

And for that year I want the screen looking pristine every time I clean it with a micro fiber cloth. I've used em all over the last few years, anti glare, glass, full screen, etc etc.

Best screen protector I've used in the last few years is the Belkin Glass screen from apple. They put it on with the machine and honestly you can't even tell it's there. No dust, no air bubbles, no hassles of putting it on and worrying about any of those things. Yes it's $40 for the glass, but if I can't spend another $40 to protect my very expensive phone, I shouldn't be buying this very expensive phone in the first place.

Yes some will complain, hey it's up to you how you spend your money, and up to me how I spend mine. If someone is cool with a $10 screen protector off amazon, and is ok with dealing with putting it on...high five and good luck.

While I agree and I usually pay money for such conveniences.. screen protectors greatly improved over the last few years. Having almost every iphone since the original, they used to be the biggest pain in the ass to install, now it literally takes 3 seconds and I spend 1/2 second worrying about dust/lining them up. Not sure what it is but it is super easy.

I don't prefer screen protectors from past usage. I don't like the tactile feel and I prefer the dislay just as it is when un-boxed. Fortunately no damage to date on any of my displays.
Just curious, how long has it been since you used one? I had a belkin invisiglass put on with their machine at the Apple Store, it is absolutely perfect and has the same feel as the screen.

Get this one. It is by far the best in the market. It is full coverage and the black boarder hides the appearance of a glass protector. The glass has excellent oleo phobic coating that is indistinguishable with factory coating.

Get it. You won’t regret it.

It also works perfectly with this case. The edge of the glass blends in seamlessly with the case.

I’ve been using ZAGG Glass+ on the past few iPhones and sometime the edges would chip but you simply send it back to ZAGGs and they’ll send you a new one for free.

My wife bought it at BestBuy and had them install it for her. Said it was a smooth transaction.

It's been maybe two years. I don't have experience with Belkins screen protectors. But I also found the dislay easier to clean without the use of a screen protector and personally I could tell by the tactile feel with a screen protector on. Perhaps the screen protector I was using wasn't Of the quality Belkins is.

No, because I’ve always hated the way they look and feel. They ruin the smoothness and sleekness of a phone.

Still looks perfect, as my phones always so. Sometimes I’ll get a hairline micro scratch on a screen, but it’s rare and mostly unnoticeable unless you’re specifically looking for it at certain angles and reflections of light.

An edge to edge protector with a case would basically look like there is no protector on the phone. I have seen people(including a genius at apple store once) get shocked when I tell them my phone(previous as well as the current iPhone) has a screen protector on top of it.

But then you have a case on your phone, so the sleekness and seamlessness is already ruined.

Naked or bust!

Edit: After reading reviews on the Belkin Invisiglass, surprisingly they're not very good at all. Now, I can't attest to everybody's situation and how they vary with using the screen protector from Belkin, but the majority are commenting on the poor durability and lack of customer service from Belkin standing behind the Product. (And these reviews were based on those having Apple apply them in store.)

But ultimately, I think it depends on how you treat your iPhone when it comes to the display. From somebody that owns multiple devices with iPads and iPhones, none of them have any scratches or damage to the display. I truly believe to how you care for your device. I think Apples displays are more than enough durable where I personally Don't require a screen protector.

I usually put a €0.19 condom around my €1159 iPhone X :D

I have never understood the use of protection for such beautiful devices if you buy another one anyway...

Nope, I stopped using screen protectors many years ago. When they announced it was gorilla glass or some similar reference. All screen protectors compromise the quality of the display. YES, all of them in some way. I paid enough for this phone and the incredible display and I want to enjoy it unadulterated. I can live with those microscopic hairline "scratches" that I may notice in 6 months only with the display off (and 6 months before I am ready to trade it in).

Yes, I always use a screen protector on my phones. I currently have a zagg sapphire defense on my x.

I use the same. The Zagg sapphire may be 45-50 bucks...but it is STRONG! Yeah maybe slightly thick...but I'm personally fine with that.

I had it on my 6 Plus for 3 years..no issues at all. When I traded it in..I wanted to remove that Zagg protector..perhaps reuse it...resize it for reuse...maybe for the rear of my 8 Plus. keep it as a backup as a protector. It started to peal off great, but I hit a snag and the protector actually cracked, shattered a little bit. Phone, screen was fine. The protector was toast.

I did read reviews before I purchased it. I also thought about how a screen protector is not going to break unless you damage it, not sure I believe someone that says It just cracked all on its own. They are made to protect your screen, so if I drop it and it breaks, and my screen underneath is fine, I’m good with that.
I use my phone at work, and don’t want to risk scratching the screen or breaking it, so for me I just feel better knowing if I get a scratch on it, I can just peel off the protector and get another. I can totally understand how people like the look of it and how easy it is to clean without a protector. So to each there own, but I can attest to the fact that the Belkin is the best one I’ve used.

I’m not.. sort of. I used one of those wipe on nano coating systems that came with a clear case. They claim it provides scratch protect for up to 12 months. So far everything it great. No sign of any scratches.

Does it “fill in” minor/micro scratches?
