iPhone X shipments on the way

I have family in town on 11/3 and can’t be home all day. Does anyone have experience with a previous iPhone shipment where you changed it to pick up from UPS Store? Can I do it without worrying I’ll somehow be screwed by UPS next Friday?

I've tried both my phone number as well as my order number minus the last two characters. Unfortunately for both it gives me the message, "UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Verify your information and try again." I'm logged into My Choice and my phone has a delivery date of November 3. Is there something I'm missing?

I think it probably matters where you live. In Phoenix it WILL change you to Monday.
I now have to have someone sit at my house all day on the chance it shows before I get home at 4 and head out of town at 5.

I'm wondering if I should change delivery method to pick up at a UPS facility then delivered to my home... pros and cons?

From talking to UPS it all depends how your iphone is handled upon landing in your city. In Phoenix they told me that the plane lands late Thursday from Memphis and the iphones are loaded right at the airport terminal and the trucks head out on Friday morning to deliver from there. The phone will never be at a customer service center until late Friday when they bring the undeliverable ones back so it's impossible to pick up there Friday. If you chose this you are automatically getting it Monday instead. In other words, you can only have it sent to a UPS store and that will be dropped on Friday just like another stop on the route so might be late Friday as well.
Mine shows on UPS this am with tracking. Really surprised that delivery weight is only .40kg! Apple has really done a great job of reducing extra packing weight.
How long did it take after changing to "Preparing to Ship" until it showed up on UPS?? Mine changed yesterday AM and I've tried everything as a reference # but still nothing 🙁

Please know changing the delivery address of your package could delay your scheduled delivery date. In addition, transportation fees may apply to certain packages.
Delivery change options for receivers, before a delivery attempt
When you track a package before the first delivery attempt, UPS My Choice® members see options to change delivery for eligible shipments. Options include redirecting your package to another address, rescheduling the delivery date, or picking up your package at a UPS customer center or at a UPS Access Point™ location, where available.
Not all shipments are eligible for a delivery change. For example, if you purchase prescription medication, perishable items, or high value merchandise, the sender may decide to deliver only to your address or require your signature.
Delivery change options for receivers, after a delivery attempt
With Delivery Change Request, you as the receiver, can request that UPS change the original delivery instructions for your shipment after the first delivery attempt via phone or the Web. UPS will perform one of the following actions:
- Will Call: Hold the shipment for pickup
- Deliver to Another Address: Reroute the shipment to a new address
- Reschedule Delivery: Hold the shipment for delivery on a future date
- Return to Sender: Return the shipment to the shipper (not available in Puerto Rico)
A fee is assessed for all types of requests except for Will Call and Return to Sender. You will only be charged if your intercept request is completed.
