My X upgrade is scheduled to "Not Now, possibly Never".

This is not to say that I don't commend Apple for the innovative X. It is a major accomplishment to include an IR emitter and receptor for facial recognition in such small package, while mastering its fabrication in uber quantities to achieve close alignment.

But I am happy with my iPhone SE. To me, it is the perfect size, and complements my rMBP in a portable form-factor. Bummed, however, that it will not see an upgrade now that the super-sized phones have taken over.

As an aside, I refuse to enrich Cook and his cronies to no end in sight -- at least for now.

It is just me.

But I fear without a SE upgrade path, I will eventually cave-in, as my wife and me, both at work and traveling solo, depend on Apple's iMessage, Notes, and FaceTime.

Just curious because I'm still waiting on mine; did they send you an email with tracking and everything too, or did it just show up unexpectedly? I ordered my through my carrier (ATT).
I'd love it if mine showed up unexpectedly. Unless I went to the store and came home to find a "sorry we missed you" sticker on the door from FedEx or UPS. Then I would hate it.

I traveled for work for a couple of decades, and it made ordering things for delivery problematic.

The hypocrisy;)..... Apple deliver late or early the defenders have the same excuses.

What you are missing here . It's not even been two weeks, that's a big drop in delivery times . Don't you think so?

There is a big, big difference between reaching a conclusion and declaring this a bust, with no data or numbers at all to make that claim... and people saying that you should wait to see actaul results. Although you want to call that being a defender, or hypocracy... its actually the more prudent approach. Sorry that you cant or dont want to see that.

And I sit on the side waiting still. No changes, no updates .... I did manage to find a local apple tv 4k 32gb ...I guess that something

Apple isn't doomed, but at some point if they continue to raise prices it's going to really test brand power. If the iPhone X starts at $999 I'd expect the iPhone 11 Plus (You know it's coming) to start around $1,200 and go up to $1,500.
For the past decade (roughly), Apple has made one new model of phone every year (more recently in regular and plus sizes). Each year, that phone has been both the mainstream model and the flagship model. This year, for the first time, Apple has split the line: there is the mainstream 8/8+ and the flagship X, positioned as a premium model. Talking like the X replaces the 7 (and 4/4s/5/5s/6/6s before it) at a huge increase in price is either disingenuous or mistaken. The iPhone 8 continues that line (at prices pretty much in line with the 7 before it), the X is new territory. Now, sure, if nobody buys the 8 and everybody buys the X, then Apple will go where the wind is blowing, putting a much stronger focus on the higher end in the future, but I see that as unlikely. Saying "if they continue to raise prices", based on the 8-to-X price difference, is like looking at the price of a Toyota Corolla and the upper end of the (Toyota-owned) Lexus line and using that to predict Toyota's next year models will start at a quarter million dollars. You're drawing a line on the graph through two mostly-unrelated data points.

Apple always uses the policy of under-promise-over-deliver on shipping products once they've been ordered, go look at the launch of pretty much every device for which Apple has offered preorders. Instead of being snarky, try doing some research.

Shipping estimates for the iPhone X have improved to 2 to 3 weeks in the United States and Canada, up from the previous 3 to 4 week shipping estimates that have been available since early November.

The new 2 to 3 week shipping estimates for North America follow improved shipping estimates in countries across Europe and Asia Pacific.

iPhone X models ordered today in the United States and Canada will now arrive well ahead of the holidays, in early December, making them available for holiday gifts.

Along with improving shipping estimates for devices purchased now from the online Apple Store, Apple has also been sending out iPhone X pre-orders more quickly than expected. Many MacRumors readers who had late November or December shipping estimates after ordering have already received their devices or are expecting them soon.

Apple retail stores are also receiving regular shipments and customers who check stock on Apple.com early in the morning and use stock-tracking tools like iStockNow have been able to make purchases with no wait time.

The iPhone X was in short supply at launch and pre-orders for the device sold out within just a few minutes, but Apple has been working hard to ramp up supply to get orders out to all customers over the holidays.

[doublepost=1510854583][/doublepost]I ordered the iPhone X 64mg from Consumer Cellular, online, on a Thursday afternoon and received it through the mail on Monday.....no problem. The dates were sept 9th and Monday the 13th. I find Consumer Cellular to be an excellent carrier in the past 6 or 7 years.

What remains to be seen is at what point do these prices turn off consumers enough to look at other products. The competition is no longer building ugly plastic poorly running phones. Apple will push it as far as they can to get record profits, but at some point greed does turn people off.

The difference between the 8 and 8S is $100, but for some reason (dramatic effect?) you have doubled that premium for any 11 Plus.

The difference between 64GB and 256GB on the X is $150, but for some reason (dramatic effect?) you have doubled that premium for any 11 Plus.

I was a bit like that with my SE - I have relatively small hands, so really liked the form factor.

I would never have gotten a Plus as they are just ridiculous for me, and even the 6/7/8 feels a bit of a stretch.

But I love the X. Like the 6/7/8 it does feel a little larger than I might like, but absolutely love it - the additional screen size you get relative to the additional size of the device is greater than the 6/7/8, so seems absolutely worth the trade off. After the first day going back to the SE it seemed tiny.

Apple, I'll make you a deal. I will pay to upgrade my entire family on every launch with the most expensive model of all of your product lines... just make Jony disappear forever! Please, I cant take his pompousness anymore!

I miss the FedEx days.:apple:

I just had an Apple.com order which came into two different shipments (for whatever reason I don't know) - both FedEx.

I'm in the same boat (with an 5S, though). I hat that they're always going bigger, bigger, bigger and totally forget the initial success of the iphone being due to it being usable with ONE hand. I really wonder what huge hands they have.

If they offer options, which is totally fine with me, why don't go both ways? Market research (as in the success of the SE) should tell them, but they falsely assume the SE was successful due to it's lower price tag and not the size... I'd LOVE an iPhone X in just one size smaller (i.e. total size of the 8)

follow your own advice please .

My estimated delivery date has been bumped up again to by end of day WED NOV 22ND. Not bad for an original estimate of DEC 8-16th.

I hope it doesnt do super well. If sales flatten it means deals will appear from various sites (as they already have for the iphone 8 and the 7 last year). Apple has gotten a bit greedy with its pricing. I am happy to pay the apple tax, i just think the tax has gone up excessively. For example, the Samsung S8+ phones are gorgeous and during recent deals were 2 for 1!

This.

The iPhone X is a nice device, I'm sure, but it's not a show-stopper. It's not going to shake the industry up one jot - in fact, it's mostly just catching up with the features most mid/high-end Android devices have had for years. It's a little bit better than those devices in some small ways - you'd expect that much, at least! - but it's not going to make Samsung tear up their roadmap or lead to any appreciable amount of switching.

And then Apple goes and charges $1000 for it. Pffft! No thanks. Knowing Apple, though, they will try to keep the iPhone X's design at a price premium for as long as possible. I expect an iPhone 8S to launch alongside the X-2 next year. It's going to be hilarious.

Meh, already made my money. I paid off my car loan on the 6th with the money I made on the 4th from reselling some.
Sure. What a winner you are. How cheap was that car?

It’s a massive hit. Sorry you can’t manage getting one. And as for Samsung, their road map is to copy Apple’s heralded moves and try to beat them to the market, like facial recognition. The problem is they don’t have he imagination to have their own ideas and do them well.
