Can confirm shipping updates here. Phone wasn’t scheduled to arrive until December 1st. Surprise, showed up today!!

i love iphone so every 2 years i keep getting a new one but i dont think i can get this new iphone x this year cuz its way too expensive (i wont sell my own kidney just for this phone) its same price as my imac.. with no contract ill be paying $1600 & with contract for 2 years $980.. i think that ill skip this year & get that iphone x once the price go down..

I'm slightly confused. When I checked apple.com earlier today, I could still at least check Store pick-up (not available in my area). This option is gone again, now. o_O

Am I the only one who is irritated by these shipping updates (probably!)? I am in Hong Kong, ordered my iPhone X four minutes after sales opened on the 27th and received a shipping date of 18-21 November, which hasn't changed since. And no notification yet of any shipment. Why is everywhere else seeing improved shipping dates but not here - we are an hour down the road from where the damn things are made!

(Rant over)

Something must be different about the ordering now. I got the 6S the day after launch. I didn't want to wait for the SIM free because on the 6 that pushed to January.

Anyhow I'm certain that I was able to reserve a Verizon 6S online through Apple.com for in store pickup without providing any carrier info, because I wasn't a Verizon customer at the time.

Yeah I’m not sure when it started since it didn’t matter to me before because there weren’t 2 brands of modems so I just ordered my carrier’s model and was happy. Now I’m with T-Mobile but I want the Qualcomm model so it’s wait for sim free or stand in line when they get Verizon models and hope for the best. Of course I could have bought the Verizon model at Best Buy really easily but everyone freaked out about the $100 upcharge this year so now I don’t have that option anymore.

Faster shipping times from Apple are great but UPS delivery timing isn’t keeping pace :(

I thought TMO Version was the True GSM Unlocked Version

It is the GSM (only) unlocked version. But when Apple starts selling the SIM free version in the US, it will be capable of working on all of the US carriers, therefore it will be the CDMA/GSM version. If you only care about GSM, then you're fine with the T-mobile phone.

Verizon is unlocked right away, so is T-mobile as long as you buy from Apple and pay in full. Sprint paid in full is technically unlocked too but if you accidentally turn it on with the sprint SIM inside, then it locks and good luck getting them to do anything about it.

Is this a fact about the Sprint one locking to Sprint if turned on with the Sprint SIM? Can you provide a link to more info on this? I plan to turn mine on with my T-mobile SIM first. If I do that will it be permanently unlocked....or will it still lock to Sprint if a Sprint SIM is someday installed? Again please provide a link to more info....there is so much misinformation out there, I just want to make sure I fully understand.

This article makes no mention of this Sprint locking behavior:

I don't have anything in writing. It was an issue I had with a jet black 7 plus last year. It could have been a random occurrence because I too hadn't heard of it happening, but both the Sprint store and telephone support, who was nearly impossible to get ahold of without an account # told me I was SOL. I ended up returning it and just buying a SIM free 7 in matte black instead. You might be ok, but after the experience I had I am super averse to Sprint phones.

You mention the Sprint Store....is that where you bought it? The unlocked status only applies to those purchased at Apple Stores. The carriers (other than Verizon) all lock the ones they sell through carrier stores with various minimum time requirements for unlocking. My Sprint phone was purchased at the Apple Store this morning.

I know I’m a survey of one but I only know of one person in my immediate work/family/social circle that has one. I’ve seen lots of these same people make yearly upgrades for the last 5+ years. The one person who upgraded insists on viewing it not as a $1000 phone but as a $45/mo purchase and is generally bad with money. I think a lot of people are definitely having sticker shock especially when a still really good 7 is now a bargain and available cheaper than msrp at most retailers.

Lol. Wasn't this the phone that people wouldn't be able to buy until January 2018?

"We made too many and are charging too much."
Lol, you people never cease to amaze. If they made too many, why are there literally NONE in Retail stores in Asia right now? Only 2-3 cities in America have them right now. They are still 2-3 weeks out online.

Apple guided for $87b, by far the most revenue ever.

What would be a successful launch in your eyes, seriously?

Just stop posting if it’s just going to be nonsense.

Apple HAS to ramp this production before Christmas and they are doing just that. It is PROVEN with the guidance they provided. Literally ZERO evidence points to decreased demand or imminent failure except haters hoping it happens.

OR just buy any other good phone. I don't see what is so great about the x.
iOS, new design. Great screen. Fast.

What more do you want?
[doublepost=1510803835][/doublepost]
wonder how many more years Apple is going to play this game of shortages, people want what they can't have, then once they get it they no longer want it
Except people still want theses phones and are happy with them at an industry leading rate after purchase.

istocklive has shown almost no inventory across the country since last week. I also have a script that scans local inventory every 20 seconds. 1 match on saturday that lasted about 3 minutes.
Don’t post facts...it hurts the fake narrative that demand is slowing.

People are rabid for this thing...fact.

That is on not correct actually - that is only for apple online.

For the last 2 years I have found apple online to be the worst indicator of supply v demand , as I've always bought retail before my online order, be it from apple retail or 3rd party.

Last purchase being Apple TV 4-5 weeks apple online, 3rd party retail available next day delivery. My iPhone 6S and 7 first 2 weeks apple retail , while online order was about a month .....

Based on what ? Previous iPhones having longer shipping delays ? Hmmmm
Wrong, that site has online and LOCAL retail stores and is extremely accurate. You can even look at retail stores only. How are you people so misinformed? Do you really want the X to fail?

It’s not failing. It’s the most popular iPhone launch ever.

If I wanted an iPhone X right now, I literally could not go out and buy it. I live in a top 5 city and there isn’t an iPhone X within 300 miles of me. It’s literally ate a handful of retail stores across the world and sells almost the minute they come in.

My intention on launch day was to get the Verizon version, but they were sold out. It is true that Verizon doesn't lock their phones regardless of place of purchase; in fact, their website appears to state that they don't lock their devices at all.

I believe all of the other carriers lock to their network if you purchase from their respective store, regardless if paid in full or not. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Most seem to specify a minimum period of time the phone needs to be on the network before they'll be unlocked.

It appears if purchased at Apple retail, phones are only locked if you carrier finance or go though the Upgrade Program.

In any case, my experience was this: as they were sold out of the Verizon model I wanted, I reserved the Sprint model instead. When my spot came up, I asked the person if the phones were still locked if I paid full retail and he said they were not. So, I went through the personal setup, made sure he put my AT&T sim to activate it, and it's the iPhone I'm currently using now. :)

I suspect the theory of what sim you use to activate the iPhone may hold true, so I made sure he didn't activate with the Sprint sim. You can actually use any sim to activate an iPhone, active or not. But whether it will lock to that sim, I think it depends on the point of sale. Apple stores, no; carrier stores, yes. Maybe?

So my advice if you can't wait for the sim free version, check stores in the middle of the day and in the middle of the week when deliveries usually happen and ask to reserve a Verizon or Sprint "device only" -- that's the important phrase. I think some people (where I am) are still lining up right when stores open to mixed results; stores, if sold out, aren't gonna have stock first thing the next day.

If you don't care about CDMA, use istocknow and regular checking of the Apple store app to see if the T Mobile version opens up for pickup as that's the only one you can still buy out right without carrier details. Check nightly as well, between the 11-1am hours, as that's usually when I've seen store pickup open up.

Technically, the T Mobile version will still work on LTE for Verizon and Sprint; it just won't work on the slower speed bands. With how much Verizon brags about their LTE coverage...

When Apple notified me that my iPhone X had shipped, they said it would deliver on Nov 21. UPS said Nov 16, but a day later, said Nov 17. Now UPS say Nov 20. The phone languished in a UPS warehouse in China for three days and then was shipped to Inchon, Korea.

So we have a product assembled in Communist China by a Republic of China company for an American company, being shipped to the USA via South Korea. Internationalism at its best.

I had a similar thing happen. It seemed to wait in China forever. Once that part passed, it started to move along. To Korea, to Alaska, to Kentucky only to ultimately come back west to Los Angeles. It appears I'll get it Monday, but I was hopeful for Friday.
