The whole debate on short supply cracks me up. There’s a massive short supply and it’s been confirmed so many times but people aren’t paying attention. The preorder dates wil slip to 2-4 weeks within a minute, 4-6 within 5 minutes and when it says 6-8 weeks on their website it will mean good luck getting it by end of Q1 2018. It’s not rocket science here fellas. Most people who claim they want the X will not be getting one. They’ll be back on here crying about the preorder date slipping. This is why sales for 8 went up, because the waiting process is going to be an extremely long one.
confirmed so many times because some clickbait articles claim that? :D good joke bro. we had those "confirmations" every year and it was the same every year. there is a good amount of stock and of course it will sell out but it's never as terrible as people predict

I think you’re right, probably not getting one unless you preorder in the first 5 to maybe 10 minutes. But hasn’t it always been this way? I feel like the 8 was the only one that didn’t sell out in minutes.
That’s because people are on the fence about the X. Why get the 8 when you can wait a month and get some reports of real experience with the X before making a move. If you think about it, we all wondered why the announced the 8 and the X at the same time... my theory...
1. People pre-order and buy the 8/8+ but no “huge” pre-order. People waiting on X.
2. X pre-order. Huge but delayed. Now those people either wait or go buy 8. In any event you’ve bought at least another month of deliveries heading into the holidays.
3. Holidays pass.. X starts to ship. Design and engineering problems push release out. More 8’s sold.
4. X is steady and adopted sometime Q3. People that bought 8’s under vendor and Apple upgrade plans start to switch. 2 buys, 1 cycle.

Freaking genius. Double sales and better inventory management.
