Lol not long to wait now but what about the delivery, will it be on time 😛 we will check this forum like crazy after placing order. Is it in china or HK, what plane its in etc.. etc...

Pre-order will be interesting for sure, as long as i'm able to get one before Christmas i'm ok with that. I will be pre-ordering as soon as the app goes live next Friday 🙂

Why are you not watching TV show's until the iPhone X is out? i'm also looking forward to pre-ordering next Friday 🙂

I seriously doubt the grey PVD is as durable as the DLC coating on the Apple Watch.

I want more info before choosing it over the silver.

I think regardless of materials used - both are going to scratch at some point. Metals pick up micro abrasions quite quickly.

In my mind both the silver and gray stainless will scratch.
Scratches will show up less on silver but more on the gray due to the darker colour obviously. Simple as that.

Really depends on the type of particulate that they used for the PVD process - it could very well be approaching the hardness of the DLC coating (none of us knows.....yet). I'm sure it'll come out after launch.

@Pug72 Yes, I want you and everyone else that's on the fence to sit it out until November....then we can all tell you the differences first hand. 😀

Lol, I won't be sitting out. 😀

I'll be going for the Silver unless I hear or find any info stating the grey coating is VERY durable.

I'll most likely be using a case anyway, but as we all know any tiny grit that gets inside the case can leave pitting or scratches (though have none on my 7 Plus after a year).

I would much rather be able to polish out any marking than be stuck with it on the Space Grey.

Id be interested to know how much of the SS band is noticeable when viewing from normal angles. Ie will it be distracting like the white front of the iPhone?

I watch my TV shows on the train to and from work. So I want to hold off those two shows until the iPhone X is here cause the OLED and HDR. I had the S8 for a lil while so i know how stunning it is to have OLED an HDR. So I want to watch em in full glory.

I'm currently watching Fear the walking dead season 3 on my iPhone so thats not gonna be done til next week or so.

Fair enough, I’ve watched a couple of HDR films on my iPad Pro and they have been great, if they look as good on the iPhone X I will be just as happy 🙂

If it is the same as the Space black on the Apple Watch, then it has a tough coating on the steel. People have reported that it’s almost impervious to scratching. Unfortunately, if it does scratch, it can’t be polished back to new like the plain stainless. Kind of a toss up, but I like the regular silver for that reason.

The iPhone X space grey is PVD coated which is nothing more than a scratch monster. And indeed, you cannot polish the band. The Apple Watch space blacks is DLC coated which is one of the hardest coating available on earth!

Just like the SS Apple Watch you can polish the scratches out of the Stainless Steel on the phone. Takes about 5 minutes. I wouldn't worry.

I'm getting silver since there's no gold this year. Not worried about micro scratches as I always wear a transparent case.

I don't think that means DLC though. Right now it hasn't been confirmed that the coating on the iPhone X is the same as the Apple Watch.
Correct (read the thread!)...
PVD is a process. DLC is a material.

The DLC layer on the Space Black Apple Watch is applied using PVD. Indeed internal image files at Apple refer to the Space Black Apple Watch as the 'PVD' model.

And one more thing... Apple has stopped referring to DLC in its latest marketing material for the Series 3. I can't find it anywhere. So if Apple has stopped using the term 'DLC' in its marketing it is possible the iPhone X and the Space Black Series 3 have just the same coatings!

(In reality though I expect it not to be DLC on the iPhone, but still very durable.)

I dont know about watching them in "full glory" since you'll have a black notch cutting off a portion of your video on one side:

I actually don’t mind the look of that, it’s not like your going to be focusing on the notch anyway. That image is from Rene at iMore and he has talked highly of the iPhone X after having hands on at the Apple event.

Maybe that bothers you. But i prefer that over the top and bottom bezels on the S8. I hate the chunky forehead an chin bezel.

Apple has the right idea.

God that pic the iPhone X looks friggin beautiful! 😀 And i can see the silver rim its the exact version im getting 😛
