no i do not want to use a t-mobile sim , i am gonna put an egyptian sim ! will the egyptian sim work ?
If they use GSM as you have suggested then you will be fine. However if they use CDMA you would have to buy a phone that supports those bands.
It will more than likely be CDMA then which i don't think will work in Egypt if they use GSM.
Its the same reason i couldn't buy a iPhone X when i was in the US a few weeks ago as we use GSM in the UK and it wouldn't have worked.
I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong.
It is NOT CDMA in Egypt. It is GSM.
that's the question is the phone already unlocked or no ?
Re-read my post and you will see that i didn't say Egypt was CDMA.

The two SKU's sold in the US support the same GSM bands - the only delta is that the Sprint/Verizon models also support CDMA.
If your carrier is issuing SIM cards, then they're GSM. CDMA never used SIM cards...they used a burned in identity in the phone called an ESN.
The only question would be if the phone is unlocked....you should have brought an Orange Egypt SIM with you and used it to activate the phone.

i put an att sim in it and it worked so that proves that the phone is unlocked or noo ?Tmobile USA uses GSM tech. So that device is GSM and does not have any CDMA capabilities.
So if his tmobile iphone X is unlocked it will work with any GSM carrier in the world.
He just has to find out if its unlocked.
If you had bought a t mobile or sim free one you would of been fine in the fyi.It will more than likely be CDMA then which i don't think will work in Egypt if they use GSM.
