More likely: iPhone Xs gets a price drop. iPhone X Plus gets the same price as the current X.
Don't underestimate Cook's greed...
By the many posts here that basically ignore the price increases... "Derp, who cares about the >$1000 price!, I'm only paying an extra $10 a month anyway..." shows that Apple customers haven't hit their price limit yet. The X stays at the current price level and the Xs+ starts at $1250

I would guess bigger. I'd think if someone wanted a smaller one, they'd probably point you towards the iPhone 8. Perhaps an SE update? Most likely not but we'll see.

Judging by Apple’s history with pricing I’m inclined to stick with my prediction.

Cook wouldn’t waste a year of upgrades either! He needs to make this iPhone X I write to you on which I have owned for two days, obsolete.

About the eventual X Plus
what if they make it a “first gen and a half iPad Pro 9.7” “ situation?

iPad Pro 12.9” 2015 - no TrueTone, no iPhone grade camera, no eSIM
iPad Pro 9.7” 2016 - TrueTone, iPhone grade camera, eSIM

So something like that
iPhone X - no ProMotion 120Hz
iPhone X Plus - ProMotion 120Hz

in order to push even X users to upgrade?

Remember, no Plus so far was only about the screen size.

I won't comment on the Tim Cook specifics, but I do think you are almost accurate about where the iPhone X Plus will start next year around $1250. Especially given if it's a higher storage tier option as well.

Storage tiers were just bumped, no sense in making them higher already next spring.
Also I think I read there’s a NAND shortage going on.

There is no guarantee next spring Apple will refresh the iPhone X with a different storage tier or color. But my point was, next year, they may offer the iPhone X Plus in a 128 GB or 256 GB as an example.

I think a reason people dispute that the X is a Plus replacement is that it doesn’t have any of the Plus UI adaptations such as landscape home screen, proper split view in Mail etc.

Reminds me of the days when I sold high end audio, everybody was listening to the equipment, not the music! If you like the X, buy it and enjoy it like I am.
