I have pre-ordered X with Three UK at 7:51am on Friday 27th October. Note pre-orders should not have started until 8:01am, but Three's site allowed me to pre-order before this so I did.

Anyway, it says in the confirmation email that the phone will deliver "30th October 2017". Obviously this is incorrect.

I am curious as to how they've allocated stock and if I will indeed receive my phone on Friday 3rd November, or if they're just putting any old delivery date in there.

Also, I note this on their website: "Please note: The estimated delivery window for pre-order/back order is 4 weeks. This date depends on stock arriving from our supplier. You’ll get an estimated date of delivery when you place your order. We’ll let you know when your device is on its way to you or if there are any changes."

Does this give them carte blanche to give any delivery date whilst really they might not have stock in for some time?

Currently on their website a 64GB Space Grey iPhone X is showing as delivery on 17th November, so I'm still hopeful of receiving my device on launch day having pre-ordered so early.

If anyone has any ideas regarding this or if you've also pre-ordered with 3 a comment would be much appreciated.

Sounds like what CPW do... give a date (3rd) then add a disclaimer.

Been disappointed in the past by this so always go direct via Apple who are the only one who can guarantee stock for launch on pre-orders.

I have the exact same date
For a 64gb sg model. I've had launch day phones from 3 before and have always arrived on time. I'm hoping for the same this time and delivery on the 3rd

I've just got off live chat with 3. They've told me I won't be receiving my X until 10th November. Needless to say I am gutted. However, I argued the toss with them, was put through to customer relations, and was given a £50 credit on my next bill, so it ain't all bad!

Which one did you order?

You shouldn't be surprised, it's like that every year. Every year they will promise you launch day delivery, only to delay it a few days later.

If you want a guarantee delivery date or estimate, buy from Apple, they are the only ones who can truly give you an accurate delivery date or estimate. Don't buy from a carrier, and if you do, don't be surprised when your order gets delayed!

I kept pushing and pushing but they wouldn't do anything else. They said go to a three store on Friday to do my upgrade in store and cancel my online upgrade.

How would an upgrade in store be any different?

Also, in relation to ssrij’s comment, not everyone can necessarily afford the upfront cost, especially at £999. Additionally, I pre ordered my 7 Plus at Apple Online last year and waited over a month to get it as the site was unreliable, so it’s not a fool proof method either.

You can get it on instalments aka iPhone Payments, or iPhone Upgrade Program, or you can save up the money every year to buy the phone. Or you can be prepared to be disappointed by your carrier as their guarantees and promises are always false.

I am not talking about how late you got it, I am talking about estimates given by carriers. When Apple gives an estimate, it's 100% accurate and your phone always comes within that delivery estimate, and sometimes if you're lucky, before the estimate.

Bottom line is, if you pre order from a carrier and then they tell you its delayed even though it showed the delivery as launch day delivery or even though they guaranteed you launch day delivery, then don't be surprised, as it's expected because carriers and retailers have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER how much stock they will be getting or when they will be getting.... until they get it.

If you want a GUARANTEED delivery estimate or date, order from Apple. Otherwise, be prepared to be disappointed.

In store upgrade to get a phone from the store instead of waiting for delivery

Ah that makes sense, but I’d expect to be queuingUp and wonder if they’ll even have any stock. I remember last year with 7 Plus asking Three stores before hand and they all said they wouldn’t have any for launch day.

Hi,

You heard anything about your delivery date? So pleased I should get mine Monday!

Yeah got a email last night that my phone will be delivered Monday. I've requested with dpd to collect at 9am from my local depot. Can't wait.
