The only problem I've had with my iPhone X has been that the touchscreen won't register every touch input outside. First I thought it was the temperature (4-8 degrees celsius), but it kept happening as soon as I stepped outside from inside, so there was really no time for it to react to the temperature.

As ridiculous as this sounds, now I've noticed that it is especially bad when there is wind. It starts working without hiccups when I step back inside, and seems to work fine outside even in colder temperatures on days when it's not windy. Anybody else noticed this?

It would not be wind. Betting it is temperature related. As the phone cools so does it’s response and operation. Got to keep you phone right against your body in cold weather.

It don't know if it's temperature since it happens within 3 seconds after I've stepped outside. I don't think that's enough time for it too cool down significantly. Like the moment I step outside it can start to lag and it's not like it's freezing temperature outside.

That is completely ridiculous if true. Here in Finland it can get pretty cold in the winter and I've never had touchscreen issues with older iPhones or newer Androids.

Yeah I know it's unlikely, but it's just strange. I had some issues last Friday with it outside (it was really windy) and it's been fine since (it hasn't been that windy), but today it was windy and the problems returned. Maybe the wind causes the temperature to change and that's why, but it's so weird how it works intermittently. I've also had an iPhone since 2006 and never had these kinds of issues.

Absolute tosh, sorry. If you knew anything about technology and touch screens you'd know that it takes some pretty extreme temperatures/conditions for a touch screen to not work. Under water? No, probably not for what should be obvious reasons, but not under any normal weather you can experience on this planet.

Tosh? LOL!

Excuse my ignorant self! But as a person who does some winter sports, I know that temps below freezing will certainly slow the device down. I have had both a sluggish screen and low battery until I returned to a warmer area.

Just leave your iPhone outside locked in your car for a Wisconsin evening that hits below zero and your phone will not work. AND there are much more severe conditions on this planet that will also stop your phone dead! Hope you have learned something!

Try leaving you phone out in the cold when it hit zero degrees and see what happens. Enjoy!

Noticed the same thing in NYC yesterday. I thought it was temp related, too, but it was not acting up all the time. The wind thing would explain it. I tried scrolling through music back and forth and noticed that it would not register some of my gestures.

I’m thinking more in the lines of the cold wind going through the speakers or earpiece and slowing down the internals somehow. Or maybe it’s because when it’s windy fingers become dry. Maybe its a combination.

In three seconds as some reported?

I have had the exact same thing happen, in fact, that is what lead me here. I know it is the wind and not the temperature because if I turn my back to the wind and shield the phone, like I would a lighter, it works fine, but if I turn back into the wind it will not accept touches.

Update your phone. This has been fixed in a firmware update.
By the way it's the temperature. The wind reduces the temperature enough to cause a problem.
