yep...same here...want to replace my SE but nonpaying over $1000 CDN for a phone that's way to big for my pocket and my needs...here's hoping Apple comes to their senses and comes out with an updated SE by next fall for those that like like the smaller forum factor and to have a phone that can be priced competitively in emerging markets
For the foreseeable future, the iPhone 8 is the de facto SE replacement. It’s a bit larger but you’ll get used to it.

I'm going to ask the obvious... Does this mean the XR is a flop? I mean, NY, 1 person in line?? Terrible...
Yes, that means the entire product line is a flop, Apple is doomed, and you should short it.

Nevermind that it's sold out on Apple.com for all carriers until Nov 7-9 and that launch day has become meangingless.

And that 2 other new more techie iPhones were released 6 weeks ago...

The XR is for the average person...IE, not lining up on launch day. Plus, you don't need to line up anymore.

They are actors/employees.
Once in a great while I’ll run into a disengaged, apathetic Apple Store employee. But by and large at the three different stores I’m able to get to from where I live, they’ve been a remarkably perky and friendly bunch, even after long, busy days.

Even when I had a few giving me a bunch of crap on my return of my iPhone X (they seemed confused by extended holiday return terms) it was polite, friendly professional crap. :p Not the usual snark and disdain of truly disaffected retail employees.

Ordered a Xr for my mom as she is replacing a 6+. Should be a really nice upgrade for her and with her "older" eyes I think she will truly enjoy the larger screen. P.S. I know Tim Cook gets a lot of grief on this forum, but he looks like a pretty cool dude and a decent person.

Ignore the haters, I also think Tim is sound

RE: " ... and score a free shirt. "

If AAPL had a CEO AND/OR VP of Marketing worth their Salt, they would offer a FREE T-shirt to everyone on launch days who picks up their new iPhone @ an AAPL Store !

Tim, Phil, I'm looking @ you !

There's much more excitement for the Udoo Bolt from Italy that's worth standing in line for.

Look at the bezels

They are ok for me, looks like you've got a case on that thickens the sides a little bit. I had a look at it in the apple store in town and I'm def. getting one.

Saw one at a best buy during lunch. The screen was dull compared to the XS but that was to be expected. It's no match to OLED. Basically reminded me of getting the cheapest watch vs a SS one. If the XR was more in line with the watch prices, it'd be an easier recommend. But with only 250.00 being the gap, the XR is too expensive for what it is. For a device that most people are keeping longer, the best value is the OLED. Now if that gap was around 400-500, then it's a different story. The XR is a funny phone. Most reviewers claim its the best value phone but not one they'd personally own and instead prefer the XS. Time will tell what "most people" prefer as well and ultimately end up buying.

For all who got their shipment or picked up at the store, enjoy. Let us know how you like it and what differences you see as compared to your old phone.

I was planning to go for the XS Max, but might get the XR instead. I’m coming from the 7 Plus so it’s an upgrade whatever I choose. It’s not the best but it’s close.

According to the phone guy at my local electronic store (best buy like) people come to look at XS and now XR, but the Apple phone that is selling the best right now is the iPhone 8. Mostly people are not ready for Apple's price tags, some seem to dislike the huge sizes. The 8 is half the price of the XS here and is price-wise more in line with other generations of iPhones.
Of course this is just one guys observation. However if you think about most people who really want one regardless probably ordered theres online, the new models don't seem to convince people who wanted to get one in their hands before buying.

Apple has another 5C on their hands with the XR. Unlike the 5C, the aluminum construction makes it superior to higher priced models.

Funny we don't see more pictures of Angela Ahrendts seeing she is SVP of retail.
Yes, that is an interesting observation given the launch of this high profile product.

The Xr is a phablet, too large for my tastes in daily use. I feel no urge to upgrade and will just keep using my 6 as it’s the perfect size and works great.

It’s a LOT of phone for the money, though. Agreed LCD isn’t as good as OLED, but it’s still a fantastic LCD. And it’s 90% of the flagship feature set for 25% less. Factor in AppleCare or upgrading to the next storage tier and it’s an even better value over the flagships.

Had they put the A11 feature set in like i totally expected them to, this would be a wholly different discussion.
