Interestingly, I've kept my alphanumeric password but haven't experienced the problem yet on 12.2 beta 3...

I think it might be fixed...

It’s random but pretty frequent for me. It’s right after you swipe up to unlokc the phone and hit one of the icons in the dock mine is 100 percent gone with the numeric passcode.
I enabled alphanumeric passcode on my XS Max, and so far nothing.

Is there anything else I need to do to reproduce the glitch? Or is it random, and doesn’t happen to everyone?

I caved and switched to a numeric passcode. I do hope this is fixed in future updates so I can go back to alphanumeric.

I have been using numeric passcode and still experience this issue on 12.1.4 iPhone x

Went to the store and they had me buy iCloud for $3/mo to move all of my data to cloud and then reinstall just the iOS without any apps and then install apps one at a time. Will be doing that today and see how it goes.

I’ve been having this odd issue on my iPhone XR. Every once in a while when I go to open an app towards the bottom of my home screen it won’t open with the first 1 or 2 taps. Instead it briefly shows the pop up letter of the key on the keyboard that would normally be where the app is on the home screen if the keyboard were open and I typed that letter. After a few taps the app opens. This happens maybe 3-4x daily with only the app in the bottom row second from the right (iMessage). I thought it might have been a bug in iOS 12.1 but it still happens with 12.1.1.

Has anyone else experienced this on the Xr or any other iPhone or am I alone? I haven’t found any mention of it when googling.
Same thing happened on my X, even STILL happens on my XS Max (12.2).

Yup. This has been happening with me as well for the past couple of weeks. Its pretty annoying. I have an Xr. Ive also noticed that iOS has been a bit sluggish/laggy. Not sure why either.

Yeah - same, iPhone X on 12.4 beta 3, still happens, I've given up believing iOS 12 will fix this now, i've been reporting it since iOS 11, only hope now is that it's been resolved in iOS 13.

edit: I should add it also happens on my 11" iPad Pro as well, so it's clearly iOS wide and not limited to iPhone.
