Yes it’s a stand-alone app, not an add-on for the standard Camera app. That’s a nice thing about the iPhone 11, it will just have this sort of feature built in.

Released 2 years apart, yet it is very uncertain whether iPhone 11 is even an upgrade over iPhone X.

Thinking about going from xs to Iphone 11 if I do upgrade. I assume everything is the same but 11 has longer battery maybe better camera and bigger screen (but lower res).
Guessing I can get the 11 for like 200-300 after trade-in of xs. I’m guessing T-Mobile will being giving huge discount on 11 too.

Though the green is growing on me, I feel the same. Doing away with blue is so sad it’s a great color. Same with coral even though I don’t think I’d buy it. Why take it away if you
Offer the same standard older colors but also including yellow? The differentiator if you aren’t into purple or green is the dual cameras and the square bump which sticks out on its own anyways

I don't know about Apple but macofalltrades.com will give you $450 for an XR with 64GB storage. $480 for an XR with 128GB storage and $530 for an XR with 256GB storage.
My iPhone 7 has a completely hosed battery, and I really want a to dual sim my work/personal accounts hence the upgrade (and the work contribution helps)
Been waiting for the announcements and now it should be a simple choice iPhone 11 > iPhone XR.
But I'm really leaning towards the XR, there is only £100 delta but thats ~25% of the cost I will pay (after discounts/trade-ins etc) the 'better' camera would be great but I'm really not feeling it.

Not really, the XR is a solid phone that will perform very well for years. The 11 is better, but if it doesn’t seem £100 better to you then probably.. it isn’t?
Agreed. I'm just creating a hypothetical as in if it dies. If it were to suffer a catastrophic failure this time next year and it was still available would buying another 8+ last me another 3-4 years with iOS? That is all I am concerned with from that perspective. I'm not a power user by any stretch of the imagination.
If it dies or breaks, then indeed, it's a bit of a dilemma. Hopefully, as rumored, the iPhone 8 with updated internals will make an appearance early next year.
I wish people would stop saying, "For an extra $100 I can get the iPhone 11"
It's not. You have to buy the whole phone so that's $699, unless you can trade in your old XR for $599 then that would be $100 more.

Yes. But it didn’t change anything. I tried restoring, starting over from scratch in case some app was to blame, but nothing ever helped. In the Apple store they said they couldn’t do anything and I should always force quit all my apps after using them (which is not what Apple officially communicates on that).
But yes: usage time is 2 to 3 hours before reaching 0%. Which is in line with what others have in my circles. So I started to assume it’s normal and those insane battery times are just marketing talk.
Went to the Apple store online and saw the trade in prices. Not much of an offer to trade up. At least not for me
I’d say that the iPhone X has the OLED screen for blacker blacks, but the iPhone 11 takes far better photos, has far better battery life and a far more powerful processor.
Whether you want the zoom lens of the X or the ultrawide lens of the 11 is a matter of preference.
Personally, I plan to swap my X for an XS for like $50 via Craigslist/eBay. I’ll similarly upgrade to an 11 Pro next year. I really like the OLED display and the zoom lens, and the battery life is fine for me.
besides the A13 and the camera nothing is really different from the iPhone xs max.
Why would you think everyone’s got an old XR to trade? Most don’t.
I have a 6s. I can either get an XR for $599 or an 11 for an extra $100—which would be $699. Does that not make sense to you?
You could also say “I could get an 11 for $699, or I could save $100 and just get an XR”. Not sure if you would like that any better, it’s pretty much the same thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Considering going from the 8 plus to 11...
It has 256GB and just had front camera and screen replaced. Otherwise in mint condition except battery health is at 85%.

You didn’t understand that members post. That member was providing a _literal_ example of just using the XR in Context, they weren’t referring to ‘everyone’ having an XR, being the XR is one of the trade-in devices that Apple is trying to promote to upgrade to the newest version.
I don’t see what you’re referring to. The hardwood floor is illuminated by light coming in from beneath the door. It could be that something looks weird since it’s not obvious what it is you’re looking at?
I was searching for dark corners since it wasn’t dark out yet.
Top left corner, light brown colored (above the books) and also whole right side, light brown colored (is it threshold?). It has purplish-pinkish artifacts.
Can anyone confirm whether or not the 2nd lens on the 11 is used to produce depth data in portrait mode pics similar to previous dual-camera iphones or are they using the single lens portrait mode technology?

You'll notice but it's not as big of a deal as people on the internet make it out to be. For example none of the the ipads are high res oled screens and nobody has complained.
Oh man. This is a fun little $2.99 app that allows you to take some cool shots in extremely low light - shots you couldn’t get at all using the built in Camera app. I think it’s good to set expectations appropriately here.

In two minds. I'm in UK on IUP, so to upgrade would cost (monthly) £1 less, as well as the £69 upfront.
I'd get the same colour and storage though as well.

Not sure if worth it now, some have said to sell the Xr and then pay off IUP and make a bit, but looking at recycle sites it's only maybe £40-50 and for the hassle is it worth it, in case they come back and mark down?
Bonus be able to see reviews and teardown as IUP for Xr was Oct.
Some things are annoying with Apple now, I know they hold back things etc, but one example, is Quicktake a 11 feature only? Surely this could be done on iOS 13 for Xr etc?
