Never a good sign that you have to turn loads of stuff down / off on a brand new phone lol.

I’ve always done this to make my phone last longer. I think I didn’t even use notifications for everything until the iPhone 6 and I also used 4G instead of LTE because the battery life with LTE was significantly worse.

I had some issues with my X after updating to the GM of iOS 12 but resolved it with a settings reset. No issues on my Xs Max though same full bar signal I get on my X on o2 in the U.K. even where I get a weak signal the Xs is performing the same as my X.

This is definitely an issue and I’ve been waiting for MacRumors to post about it. My XS Max drops WiFi continually unless I’m near the modem. My 8+ never did so I’m hoping a new software update will resolve the issue. I would hate for it to be an actual hardware issue considering the amount of money we’ve paid or are going to pay over the next 12-24 months.

It's the antenna, not the modem. FCC already shown that in their tests. WiWavelength posted the first article on the 12th prior to release of the new phones, and no one paid attention. The second is his followup. Without a doubt, Apple will blame the carriers and ignore us.

Whoa... that's pretty damning.

Yikes! Well, this news has me putting on the brakes thinking I might head to my local apple store for a XsMAX purchase! I think i'll stay with my wonderful 7 Plus a while longer.....

Me too. Better and faster LTE at the office than my 7 Plus had.
I wish I could say the same. NYC. AT&T. iPhone Xs Max is SIGNIFICANTLY worse. LTE speeds are ~1-3 mbps and wifi is ~10 mbps. Tried resetting networks, restoring, airplane mode on/off, powering down etc. It's been like this since Friday. Going to the Genius bar tomorrow, but I am really hoping this can be addressed.

So this is journalism?
Several readers in a forum report a problem and that is evidence for a story?

I get that you said it was the source.....but that is the source?

Not just this forum. The Apple forums contain many complaints, as do other forums.

And that's not all. There are several detailed articles concerning these iPhones RF Performance, especially in comparison with past iPhones. You could say this issue was predicted ten days ago. It's now coming to fruition. These articles, in combination with hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints, unquestionably justifies a front-page article. Doubly important given the short return window -- people need to be informed, and fast.

Your "this is journalism?" critique is incorrect.

Will be interesting to hear Apple's response.
Hope they handle it better than iPhone 4's antennae gate.

I have an XS awaiting collection, but contemplating cancelling unless it's confirmed to be software or firmware. Not spending a grand to have to deal with issues relating to connectivity and wifi, especially if a fix doesn't come within the 14 day return window.

Free bumpers lol.
I'm going to guess that Apple won't even acknowledge this issue.

Did you read the article or did you just want to act like this is the downfall of Apple?
In its entirety... not sure how me equating this is a mess w/ the downfall of Apple (your words). But funnily enough, I think you may be guilty of what you are seeing in others, just in reverse. I always laugh when Apple fans like yourself get so butthurt about any news at all that even could be slightly seen as negative.

Stop being so sensitive. You are not apple, or intel, or macrumors or the internet. It's just news (early news at that, who knows what will come of what). Calm down.

I've had these same issues on the iPhone X. The problem imo is that desire for thinness has left little room for a really good antenna.

Getting my popcorn ready for when people start claiming unfixable hardware and Apple releases a software update that completely address the issue.
So, let me get this straight, You want Apple to release to the public a faultly product; then fix it via software updates?

I just got my new XS Max 256gb.... estimated delivery date was this coming Friday and it showed up this morning!

Upgrading from a new X from last year... so I don't notice much difference except the bigger screen.

Before my X I had a 7 Plus.... so it was nice to get back to that size.

Overall I'm happy with it.... but nothing that's OMG cool from my old one.

---

I have decided to dump Apple Watch.... I'm selling my series 3 (gps + cellular) and will not be buying the series 4...... my wife loves hers but the experience is just not for me..... I prefer my Panerai.

Also... with this new XS Max phone, I don't see myself ever using my old iPad Air again... I'll see if I can sell that.

My biggest issue with Apple at the moment is just the lack of the Mac Pro upgrade....

LOVE the Apple TV though... use it exclusively now to watch anything... that's a super underrated product.

I have no issue with wifi in my house. I have an Airport Time capsule and labelled my 5 Ghz band separate from the 2.4. My Max connects with no problems to the 5Ghz band and I get great speed.

I couldn't care less...I just pointed out this isn't a "mess" until the issue is isolated, studied, and confirmed as a hardware issue.

I own part of Apple, so I am sensitive to the point I own and always sensitive to nonsense.
