Hello,
after one day of usage my iPhone XS 256 Gb received yesterday afternoon today suddenly died.
It works fine until today afternoon (less then 24h).
The battery was around 90% and when I take it off from my pocket was turned off.
I have tried to wake it up pushing the power button but no signs of life.
I have tried also to reset it but nothing. Nothing happen trying to connecting it to the Mac
Tomorrow I will try to call the apple assistance and maybe after to visit an apple store.
I am very sad :(
In the meantime, do you have any suggestion?

Thank you

regardless if you get it to work again I would exchange It. You cant know if it was a software or hardware issue. I would just set up an appointment at Genius Bar, they should have one or two replacements available.

Unfortunately, you got yourself a bad apple. I suggest you get yourself to the Apple Store and pick yourself a sweet replacement.

I agree with you. The problem is that the close Genius Bar appointment available seems to be next Friday.
I don't know if someone will help me only walk through the Apple store.
I will try tomorrow to give them a call before to understand what I have to do now

often times they take walk-ins i've done it recently. Its unfortunate you need to schedule a week in advance for an appointment I thought it was just the apple store near me. It seems to be all then. I would do it sooner than later lsat thing you need is for them to say its due to handling on your part. At the least call support and have them document the case for you. Just write down the case number.

If you just brought it, and made an appt with genius to see it....the smart ones will just point you over to the product zone people.

They’ll return it and get you a new one.

If you go through the hassle of swapping it out at the Genius Bar or groove or whatever they’re calling it now—you’re going to have limited warranty on the ‘new’ one.

Go back and return it for another.

I've handled a few iPhones from clients that had actually frozen up and they couldn't get their computers to recognize them or charge, screen off as well - random iOS bug. Try a DFU restore, if that fails, walk into an Apple Store and talk to whoever is handling the iPhone purchase line and tell him or her what happened, they will likely reserve a phone from stock on the spot and get to you in short order. Do not wait for the Genius appointment, it'll take forever...

This is something I don't believe you need to make an appointment for. I would show up at opening time and they will try their best to work with you, regardless of appointment. They want to keep your business which means making you happy.

Thank you for your suggestion.

But are you sure about that? What you mean with limited warranty?
100% certain.

Limited warranty is the 60 (?) days bs they tell you when you go in to repair your phone and they have to swap it out even though it’s under the 1 year apple care (not plus) warranty.

Just return it and get a new one. You're within the 14 day period. What am I missing here?

The product that you return I think needs to work properly.. In theory they will check.. I dont’t think I can send them back a completely died phone.. please correct me if I am wrong

Tomorrow morning I will go to the Apple Store to understand what they can do

Your new warranty will either be the remainder of your original warranty, or 90 days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. That’s how it was communicated to me when I had a warranty replacement, plus it’s on the Apple website.

They normally don't check returns. And even if they do, you are in your 14 day window. You can return the phone for any reason and Apple will honor the return. You don't need the Genius Bar.
