I agree with you. The problem is that the close Genius Bar appointment available seems to be next Friday.
I don't know if someone will help me only walk through the Apple store.
I will try tomorrow to give them a call before to understand what I have to do now

I’ve only been once (dead pixel on my 6s plus a few years ago). I didn’t have an appointment and they got me in and out with a free screen replacement in about an hour and a half.

If you have a legit problem (and you definitely do), they’ll do everything they can to accommodate you. Just one of the reasons we pay a premium for these things. ;)

The product that you return I think needs to work properly.. In theory they will check.. I dont’t think I can send them back a completely died phone.. please correct me if I am wrong

Tomorrow morning I will go to the Apple Store to understand what they can do
Apple will take it back for ANY reason as long as you do it within 14 days. On a happy note, my Apple Store shows XS Gold 64GB and 512GB IN STOCK! Yayyyy! Shocker, demand is low. I'm holding out for 256 though. XS Max Black and Silver available in 64, 256 and 512 in 4 stores. I'm lucky, I am geographically near to 12 Apple stores.

I wish they had more Apple stores near me. Mine is an hour away. Not sure why Apple hasn’t added more stores here and there.

Your new warranty will either be the remainder of your original warranty, or 90 days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. That’s how it was communicated to me when I had a warranty replacement, plus it’s on the Apple website.
Nope, not when I went in last time but maybe that’s changed in the two years.

In any case why would he want to have it fixed when it’s within the 14 days and it died on him?

Unless it’s an item that has been customized specs (eg laptop loaded) 9/10 times they’ll just switch it out. The 1 time is that d...

Thank you all for your suggestions.

This morning I went to the Apple Store and they did exactly what you have suggested. Broken phone returned immediately in the apple store due to the fact that I was in the 14 days period, value of the old phone in a gift card and they give a new iPhone. No genius bar needed or refurbished product.

Apple in terms of support is excellent as always.

If you go through the hassle of swapping it out at the Genius Bar or groove or whatever they’re calling it now—you’re going to have limited warranty on the ‘new’ one.

Go back and return it for another.

Actually it's not limited. IT's limited only if you get a warranty replacement closer to when the warranty expires. The remainder of the warranty from the original device transfers over to the replacement unit.

Actually, this policy has always been the case. When I got my iPhone 4 when it first came out, after 2 month of use, I had an issue with the home button not working well. So I went in. Got it replaced, asked them when the warranty expires on the replacement unit. They said typically your current warranty from your original does transfer over to the replacement unit. Now if you get it replaced say August 2019, then it will only extend to the 90 day warranty period. Just like when I had to get my iPad mini 4 replaced because it refused to upgrade and on a reboot look and I only had 2 month left of warranty on it and Apple Genius stated that your warranty is valid for 90 days.

Now, I do agree that if you are within the 14 day return period, you might as well just get it exchanged.

Yes, maybe 90 and not 60 though I swear it was what I was told but it does not go through to your original warranty anymore.

And I know this because that’s what they told me when they swapped out my six s (later to be found that it was an issue across board and not just my device but whatever). I asked several times before signing that dang iPad.

It just depends on when you got your phone and when you had to use the warranty replacement. If it's beginning of the year, then your warranty transfers to your replacement unit and you still get the remaining warranty period. Launch day iPhone 4, 1 month down the road, home button issue, got it replaced, checked my warranty and still was good for another 11 month. It does not shorten the warranty period if you replace it.

So if you purchased an XS got it on launch, and 1 month down the road, something happened, and they replace it, you still get the same warranty and will expire 9/20/19.

Now if you had to replace your device in August of 2019, then it falls into that 90 day warranty because your original warranty would expire on 9/20/19 and in that case your warranty extends 90 days out from the day you replace it in August.

Mine had more than 90 days left period.

It was an issue way before the phones had this “issue” reported. It was a newish (had it for a couple of months as I had my phone stolen and had to buy a new one).

I’m on the iPhone upgrade now, 3rd phone, and this isn’t really applicable to me but that’s my experience.

If you had more than 90 days left from the original warranty then yours would have had the one that lasted longer, in that would be the original warranty you had on your original device. Not sure why they flat out told you, you just had 90 days. Doesn't make any sense.

I’d ask the same question and got nothing back. It was either I sign for a new phone or stick with one that was consistently shutting down despite having ample battery life left on the icon and *just* having charged it. If I tried to power it on ironically enough, it would power on but as soon as I tried unlocking it...it would do it again until I got it plugged in...than it would work normally for a few days before doing the same dang thing.

I have a pretty good memory, I even remember when I had enough. It was when I was trying to order an Uber after the train closed for the day (midnight, trains don’t run anymore).

But hey, I don’t know where you got that info. I just had a genius tell me this at the groove.
