I got this for now: Miracase Ultra Hybrid Case Cover Compatible with Apple iPhone Xs Max 6.5 inch (2018) with Air Cushion Technology and Crystal Clear Hybrid Drop Protection Case (Clear) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G7TMFBK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_plGPBbM460CGR

While I wait for this: https://www.armorsuit.com/collectio...max-screen-protector-full-body-skin-protector

I always like to get the thinnest possible case when I get Max size phones. So I have found over the years that the best way to keep a big phone thin is to use this vinyl type self healing skin. It protects the corners and is just about invisible with some practice of installing. It also makes the phone look amazing and along with a tempered glass screen protector your phone can easily survive multiple 4 foot drops and look great doing it. I highly recommend this method I use it for all my iPads as well and when I am done with them they look like the day I bought them. If you decide to do it and you want some tips on installing the skin perfectly using the tricks I’ve learned over the years send me a message I’d be happy to help.

I went with the Element Case called Illusion and The UAG Monarch Black / Carbon fiber with my SG XS Max. In early October I’ll post the Element case pics. I see some one already posted the UAG monarch case so they have excellent taste :) I wanted Spigen reviews online weren’t so hot so I expanded my search and I’ve had excellent luck with UAG and Element overall for years!

I always use the leather cases. I have the forest green one for the Max. And I love them. I hate the price but they are really nice cases.

I’d love a saddle brown case but I really worry about the bottom edge being exposed especially with this shiny space grey finish. I’m worried I’ll scratch it

One of my things is buying cases. Always looking out for something good and/or different at a reasonable price.

From Amazon:
- Spigen Liquid Crystal Clear
- Spigen Liquid Quartz Glitter (adds a subtle touch of sparkle)

I have two more cases from Amazon coming later today, but I have a feeling they may be going back. I’ll mention them if I keep either or both.

I may try a thin case this year, but something with a little grip. I tried one before and it was too smooth of a material, very slippery. I liked the thinness though.

TPU is TPU is TPU; it's all 25 cents of thermoplastic no matter the marketing gimmicks/hype about shock patterns etc. It's mostly all BS unless there is some other materials at play in the case like a hard shell or in the corners, and even then, mostly marketing hype (like saying "military spec"). And even then people have broken their phones in those expensive hyped shock absorption cases, its luck of the draw how it falls and hits.

Get cases off of AliExpress for $2.50-3 each with free shipping; just have to wait 3-4 weeks. Got a cheap one for now from some Amazon deal.

I love having my phone and wallet in one so I went with the nomad tri folio. It’s awesome and looks amazing. If you feel like the max is already too big though this may not be a good option but I like it that it gives me more to grip.

I used the Apple leather on my iPhone X since launch day, and it still looks brand news even with the bottom open. I am sporting the Apple leather case on my new iPhone XS Max.

As been stated, it does take a few weeks for the case to get some grip to it.

I’m debating whether to go Apple Leather Case or caseless.

I went caseless with my X and the glass was pretty beat up on the back after a while. Lots of scratches and marks.

I am also debating not going Apple Care this time. As above, I was caseless but with AppleCare.

I have insurance via my bank and if I need to make a claim and send the device I , I can use an old iPhone for a couple of days.

What do people think?

Thanks for the reply. I may just give the case a punt. I held out on the previous X model so have no experience with the new shiny finish, hence the hesitation.

Does the Apple leather case give any drop protection? I want a minimalist case that looks good but gives a little drop protection

Using the Spigen Liquid Crystal and it’s great. Has good grip and you can see the awesome design of the iPhone instead of covering it up. Used the same case on my my iPhone X and 7 Plus and never had issues with small bumps/drops. The Ultra Hybrid is similar except it has a hard polycarbonate back instead of it being full TPU and seems slightly thicker around the sides.

What cases do you recommend for the XS Max? I can't seem to find many reviews on Amazon nor many articles. I see the usual brands: Olixar, Spigen, Ringke.

I don't feel like spending $40-$50 at a T-Mobile, Best Buy, or venture to an Apple Store in the chaotic mess that happened today w/ the POS (point of sale) systems being down for customers.

EDIT:

The Spigen Rugged Armor is the one I normally get for phones, but any owners out there who can chime in please? Thanks.

I ordered a few cases from Kulor Cases before and I'm ordering my Max case from them again. Check them out.
