I do miss how portable my Xs was versus my Max.

However, if you don't have and don't plan on getting an iPad the Max is a must own. I do enjoy the larger screen.

I went from the 7 Plus to the X last year. Loved having the smaller phone again, especially in construction. When the XS and XS Max were launched, I upgraded to the Max. Didn't really dig the size, the heft, the feel in hand. Sold that and bought the XR. Was much more manageable, but was still heavy and clunky at times. Was able to purchase a brand new XS 256GB for less than a 64GB XS and couldn't be happier back with the smaller lighter device. If Apple would make the 11 a tad narrower across the line it would be great!

Yes, I regret buying the Xs Max and currently selling it and goings back to regular X. (not Xs).
I had the X before Xs Max and 7 Plus before that one. Also had few Galaxy Notes in the past years.
But I wasn't feeling it with the Xs Max.
It was to heavy, too bulky and yet I didn't find the size beneficial. I also didn't like the display and preferred regular X display quality.
Unlike Xs Max, I never felt 7 Plus was too big / heavy. Nor did I felt this way using Samsung Note 9.

Howdy.,
I just cracked my screen on my iPhone X. Sadly switched carries bring your own device. So no insurance and didn’t have Apple care. I considered my options s10+/iPhone XS/ And XS max. I missed my experience with the 7plus. So I ordered a new xs max. Hope it’s everything and more.

There are days that I wish I had an Xs when I pick up my wifes X just because for most part, I can use my Max 1 handed but my pinky is getting pissed from holding it. I tried a popsocket and wasnt a fan of it so not sure what else I can do. I've been trying to get use to using it with other hand but just not as easy lol. I will probably take a look at the smaller one this year when they are released as I get through the day no problem with my battery usually with 30-50% left so shouldnt need the bigger battery

My eyes “Xs Max please”

My pocket “iPhone 4 please”

My eyes are winning

My arm “apple watch for when you want to leave that brick at home”

My arm won

Age is a thing haha

I have small hands and there's just no way that I'm buying anything bigger than what I have, Samsung S10, and even then I'd probably be happier with smaller. At the end of the day its not about what I want but rather, the minimising of what compromises I'm prepared to make. I've always been smartphone plus tablet combo so the max sized phone is of zero interest to me. My perfect phone is all the goodies of the Xs Max (or Android equivalent) in the size down from a Xs.

FWIW, Samsung's OneUI has made a significant difference to my liking of a larger (as opposed to large) phone as I can do a lot more one handed. That said I'd still prefer the size of the S10e if it weren't for a few things in the S10.

I had the XS Max for about a month and noticed I kept going back to the X because of the size. I sold my Max and bought the XS and have been totally happy with that decision.

Now that we're more than half year in with the XS Max and XS, for the people that bought the XS Max, any regrets going for the bigger size?
Overall for me its been nice, two situations jump out that remind me how big the phone is though:

1. When I'm working out, the corner of the phone actually pokes out my pocket
2. Using the phone in bed, can't reach side to side

That being said, I'm not sure I REGRET IT, as there are always pros and cons to a size but sometimes I do miss the smaller form factor. How about you guys?

No regrets. Love the Xs Max size... not noticeably different from the iPhone 8+.

I used to own an X and it was much easier in the hand, but I’m pretty used to handling the Xs Max now. I think the Xs May be the sweet spot in terms of size. I don’t regret the Max though. I’ve always wanted a big phone.

The Xs is definitely the more comfortable of the two. However, with the Xs Max you know you have the biggest best that there is to offer.

That is worth the price to me.

I traded my 8+ for XS Max. I quickly decided I was tired of a big phone in my pocket and traded for a XS. No regrets. They’re both great phones but, the XS suits me better.

As someone who has always had the Plus series I could never go back something smaller. Although I did start off with an XS and quickly went back and got the Max. The XS wasn't bad at all but the screen real estate left a lot to be desired.

I upgraded from the 7 Plus. Since it's the same size there was absolutely no regrets or adjustment needed. Maybe if I came from a non plus phone it would have been an issue.

Had the Max for about 4 months. Coming from an X I loved the bigger size at first especially for media consumption and typing with the wider keyboard. But there were times I really missed the smaller form factor is my X like when im working out, the Max doesnt fit well in pocket and its difficult to jog with. Also on my train commute there are times I need to use my phone one handed and its almost impossible with the Max. The weight also doesnt help. The Max is a heavy boy. I just brought a used X from Swappa and selling off my Max. The X form factor is so much more comfortable. I really think its the perfect size.

I had the 6 Plus and 6S Plus and loved them both. I upgraded to the Max in the fall and the transition was easy as I always loved the big phones. However, something about the Max made it over the top in not a good way. I know physically it was the same size as my Plus phones but it just felt more heavy.

I ended up returning the Max and also a second one due to connectivity issues and went to an X. The X size works best for me. Still have the good sized screen real estate but easier in the hands. I think I’ll stick with this size going forward.

I feel the opposite (which I didn’t expect) I enjoy the heft. I’ve spent the past few years ending up with smartphones that were becoming lighter, slimmer. Folk would marvel at how light they were but I always felt differently. I started to equate the featherlight phones as cheap & flimsy (they weren’t) When I first held an X I instantly appreciated the premium feel and the weight only added to it. I passed on the X but recently got the Xs max. I am loving how the max feels in the hand, again the extra weight only adds to the premium build feel imo. The glass is extremely slippery & my drop anxiety is insane. I know I will need to get a case but I hate the thought of adding bulk and ironically..more weight

For me, no regrets whatsoever. The overall size is not that much larger than the 6S Plus I had.
The extra screen real estate is great for doing so much with, especially photo adjusting and manipulation.
The occasional game, spreadsheet, etc.
I’ll grant it has some weight to it, and the metal/rubber case I currently use adds a little more, but the combination of the phone and case really work for my use.
Also, I’ve never been coordinated enough to use a phone one-handed so that’s not a factor for me.
However, this is me, others need or want other choices and it’s good we have them (to a point).

When I had a 4s I thought "who wants a giant phone to talk on?"
Then I got a 6S Plus and never looked back. Now the Max. To me the size is perfect.

I hear you. When I had my Max for the short time, I did have the super thin cases for it.

Sometimes I do wish for the smaller form factor of the XS. The XS Max is a little too heavy too, in my opinion. However, I switched to the iPhone 7 from the 7+, and while it was nice at first, I very quickly got tired of having a smaller screen and less battery. I'm afraid to ever switch back to a smaller iPhone.

I have been in the Plus iPhone camp since 2014, the X was manageable i found it too small. As regards workouts, my AW4 does a perfect job i.e listening to audio books, podcasts & music hence my Max stays at home.

A smaller phone wont cut it for my use case;

- my main commute device
- replaced the kindle since 2014
- highly required for mobile banking
- need the screen size for messaging & notes
- Plex, Prime Video, Netflix & Sky Go ( for longer train trips, in the absence of my iPad)

At work I opted for the the 8+; i have it on me most times, however my AW4 stand in for my Max when not at my desk.

At home i use the Max comfortably with both hands whilst sitting up in bed mostly

No regrets. The Xs Max is what Apple said it would be

I think Apple has something to say about every iPhone they release, the Max delivers one thing and one thing only, a larger 6.5 display. That’s what you’re buying, and of course with a larger display comes a larger battery. That phone is made exclusively just for those who want something bigger over the 5.8, but share the same technology.
