Yes it is lol, how do you do BOTH, and not to mention at half screen size, what are you paying attention to?

Paying attention to the web page, while mostly listing to YouTube, depending on the particular video. Same as I do watching YouTube on my desktop while surfing.

But not android flagships, and not after a year.
I can pick up a new sealed unlocked 128gb s10+ for £450 and it’s only been 2 or 3 months since launch.

Maybe if you got a cheap android, that’s not going to lose much of it value.

The a12 is a faster than the 855 and has a larger npu.
That means better hardware no two ways about it.

No that doesn't and if you look at the benchmarks between the OnePlus 7 Pro and the iPhone XS Max, the SD855 is a better performer.

Will the A13 up the ante? Yep, then the SD865. There will always be a faster chip.

Ufs is slower has lass bandwidth and is inherently cheaper than nvme.

Nvme is still faster than ufs 3.1 and has been on the iPhone since the 6s or 6, can’t really remember.

Yes only hdr10 and not Dolby vision.
The iPhone XS Max supports Both hdr 10 and Dolby vision. Once again better hardware than can display both hdr formats.

iPhone XS Max has a better display you should compare the display mate scores between the displays.
It also has a flat display and doesn’t have a chin.

The Max display may be good but DisplayMate has the following
The OnePlus 7 Pro matches or sets 10 Smartphone Display Performance Records for:
· Highest Absolute Color Accuracy (0.8 JNCD) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Highest Image Contrast Accuracy and Intensity Scale Accuracy (2.20 Gamma) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Change in Peak Brightness with the Image Content APL (1 percent) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Shift in Color Accuracy with the Image Content APL (0.3 JNCD) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Shift in Image Contrast and Intensity Scale with the Image Content APL (0.00) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Largest Native Color Gamut (111% DCI-P3 and 140% sRGB / Rec.709).
· Highest Contrast Ratio (Infinite).
· Lowest Screen Reflectance (4.6 percent).
· Smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle (22 percent at 30 degrees).
· Highest Visible Screen Resolution 3K (3120x1440) – 4K Does Not Appear Visually Sharper on a Smartphone.

7 pro vibration motor doesn’t even begin to compare with apples Taptic Engine. Try an iPhone with a Taptic Engine, it’s really no comparison everything else feels cheap. Just like holding a phone with a stainless steel frame vs one with a aluminum frame. Again better hardware on the iPhone XS Max.

3d facial recognition is superior to 2d, your preference on the matter is quite irrelevant. Once more better hardware on the iPhone.

The refresh rate is 90hz, touch sensing for the OnePlus is at 60hz vs 120hz for the iPhone XS Max

Again better hardware on the iPhone.

Don’t know if the 90hz refresh rate is a gimmick or not but when I compared the iPhone XS Max to the one plus 7 pro, I couldn’t see where the 90hz refresh rate was being utilized. Do you have to wait for google to do something with android to take advantage of the new refresh rate?

I compared the speakers as well, once again no contest. The iPhone XS Max has louder clearer speakers.

The iPhone XS Max has one of the best sets of stereo speakers on any phone, I have even compared it to the Razer and that had a 120hz refresh rate display, still no contest when it came to the speakers.
Sad they no longer make phones.

Yes you seem to have made quite a few.

Sure and next year when the 865 comes out apples a14 will be right there waiting for it, spoiler: this years a13 will crush next years 865, just like last years a12 is superior to this years 855.

I have the 7 Pro and I'll disagree with your subjective analysis.

Oh so you use a video for listening, losing half your screen to do your second activity. I listen to youtube sometimes too, except I alt tab and continue to work FULL screen

I pay attention to both. I do that sort of thing so the time? I'll read stuff on the net while watching TV. I'll listen to music and do computer work.

A YouTube video takes up less than half the screen when the phone is in portrait orientation. Have you never watched a YouTube video while scrolling down to read comments or look at suggested videos? Multitasking is like that, but with more freedom.

reading comments on a youtube video is a subtask of being in the youtube app, so really you want the audio to just continue while doing an actual different task? That would be something the app should do, just like how I can browse facebook and the net while listening to spotify

A12 crushes the 855.

A13 is a 2019 soc, 865 is a 2020.

Better than the one plus that’s for sure.

Home screen peak brightness is pitiful at around 400cdm2 on the op7 compared to the iPhone at 726cdm2.

There is much more when you actually compare the reviews.

I have the 7 Pro and I'll disagree with your subjective analysis.

Of course you do, but you bought a cheaper device with cheaper components. You get what you pay for.

No. It is entirely possible to do something else while watching a video. Do you never read your phone, or text, or whatever, while watching TV? This is so commonplace, so trivially easy, I can't believe we are even talking about this. I can watch YouTube videos at the same size they are when my phone is in portrait orientation, while I shoot off texts or read the news.

This typically happens when I'm watching a video, and want to keep it running, but find I need to also sends some emails or texts. Or, I want to look up information related to what I'm watching.

but that is TWO screens, two devices, we are talking about cramming it into one screen, if all you want to do is HEAR the video then its up to the app to do that isn't it, not the OS, I can have spotify playing uninteruppted while I browse facebook. What I don't want and don't need is to have it take up half my screen while I do that.

Who said anything about only listening? I think you've agreed that a person can read it text while watching TV, so let's just stop pretending people don't watch videos while doing other things.

The small video size of YouTube, when the screen is in portrait, is big enough to watch. I can use the rest if the screen to do other things. I can watch a review of a piece of tech while looking up the specs of that device. Or look for pricing. Or look at another option. I can watch a video my wife has linked me to, while texting her my reaction. I can reference a document while typing an email. I can reference a website while editing a document. I can watch an instructional video while reading supporting documentation in a PDF.

It's fine if you personally don't find this useful, but to deny the general utility of it is silly.
