OP. Ignore Thai.

All modern phones have good cameras; S9, S10, Mate 20 Pro; Pixel 2; iPhone XS.

Simple fact is that the whole industry amazingly agrees on one thing: The Pixel 3 is the phone to beat for the camera.

Wow. Whole industry. Now, we’re talking big leagues here! The grand statements from the few here are just so full of.....excitement......or excrement....can’t decide.....probably latter.

What do you mean by limited use? Because I have to hold the phone still for a few seconds to get a great low light pic? I would say the fact that the iPhone is not good at all in low light and doesn't have a night mode limits it's use in low light situations. Now if you were talking about video then yeah, clearly iPhone is better.

Right here maybe?

Sorry didn't see your post until now.

Actually, i give 100% credit to Night Sight (and selfie). There is no comparable Apple version of it. But again, that is ONE limited use feature. Photography is more than just long exposure 5-8 second night shot that requires steady hand(s) and no movement in frame...and you better make sure that the photo is in the album BEFORE taking another shot!

But is that all photography is? The other stuff (ya know, the majority of photography) is where XS is better. More details in shadows. More balanced exposure. Highlight control. Much faster processing without LOSING photos. Speed of photo to photo capture. Real-time HDR. Reliability of camera operation without crashing or lag. Shot to shot consistency. And so on.

And as noted, i am just talking about pictures/photos. For video, XS is just in another league...and thus, XS is by a wide margin, the BEST camera system on the planet.

Im hoping we get night mode in the next iPhone, that’s like the one feature I’d really like them to add. As far as XS being the best camera system, I agree.

I suspect that for 99% of people, 90% of the photos they take are in broad daylight.

In this use case, the Pixel 3 wins. Even when it is dark, the Pixel 3 wins.

Yes, I agree the iPhone XS shoots the best video - that is something that most of the industry agrees.

I shoot a lot of family videos, so that something that matters to me.

I didn't find any difference at all between Pixel 2 and 3. Pixel 3 gives way too much contrast, hides pretty much everything in the shadows. I think iPhone XS is overall the best camera.
I wouldn't even say that Pixel 3 has the best camera on the android side, S10 is the new winner there.

I wouldn’t put too much stock on what some members here are claiming in regards to the pixel 3, the phone doesn’t sell in any substantial numbers, and as the article you posted attested there seems to be a growing discontent among hardcore pixel fans regarding the performance of the phone.

I too feel that the the pixel over-processes the photos compares to the iPhone XS.

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the posters posting about the pixel 3/xl superiority also own an iPhone XS xr or x. I’m sure they have their reasons .
