As much I did like TouchID, I found the reliability of FaceID to be much better for me.

Especially for Apple Pay, it’s amazingly fast. I love the fact that it preauthenticates before you hold it to the machine, so you know it’ll definitely work. There’s been so many times TouchID failed to read my fingerprint at the checkout when there’s a huge lineup waiting behind me.
So true about the checkout I had to wipe my finger and still then it was iffy.. I haven't used it at a pay terminal yet but I will be in the next few days.

Nope. In fact, I would bet you the 8 and 8 Plus will be the last Apple phones to have Touch ID. Face ID is so much better, even in its infancy than Touch ID.

I thought I read somewhere Apple has already said Touch ID is gone and not coming back.

Which I find odd as they’ve apparently spent so much time and effort to putting it under the display and were rumored to be close before ditching it due to time constraints and going with face id

Apple could give us a touch ID on the back as a fallback if they want to.

Except wants to move away from Touch ID And would have never placed Touch ID on the back of the iPhone, which passcode serves more than enough for a back up method. A fingerprint sensor on the back of a phone is a catergorically horrible design placement by my experiences. I don't believe Apple would be ever released an iPhone with Touch ID on the back.

They only experimented with Touch ID under the display and Face ID, which Face ID was the primary once it was proven to work as intended, when they stopped working on Touch ID under the dislay together.

As an interaction model, FaceID is the first step into ambient computing future. Where tech is invisible and are simply there without getting in the way.

After 24hrs of FaceID, I really dislike and feels slowed down by the TouchID on my work phone.
