@ soulynx

....It worked. Thanks for your advise on this matter Soulynx.

I switched off my handsfree,
went to iphone 4 Settings>Bluetoot turned it off and then back On,
Switched on my samsung handsfree,
Pressed the call answering button for 3-4 seconds,
The handsfree device was detected,

I clicked on the detected device in bluetooth settings, entered '0000' and it's working.

Initially, it kept on searching and the bluetooth icon would disappear once I came out of the Bluetooth setting, however, once a device is paired...even if u switch off the device, the Bluetooth icon is still displayed and it does not disappear as discussed in the other forums.

iPhone4 bluetooth stuck "searching"

I have the same problem getting my iPhone to pick up any other Bluetooth devices. I have iPod (2nd Gen) and this too is the same just getting stuck in searching.
I've had 2 iPhone 3GS and neither of them would find anything or stop searching. I've now got iPhone 4S and still the same. Even trying to connect my iPod and 4S together via bluetooth is impossible.

Anyone with any suggestions please share

Step #6 did it

Thank you Soulynx!

Step #6, holding down the answer button on the bluetooth device did the trick (even though bluetooth was flashing blue and ready to pair, it just kept searching until I did this).

1. Touch Settings
2. Touch General
3. Touch Bluetooth
4. Ensure Bluetooth is turned On
5. Slide the Power switch to turn the BT530 on
6. Press and hold the Answer button until you have a constant blue LED
7. Touch the BT530 in the list
8. The passkey for the BT530 is 0000 (4 zeros)
9. Enter the PIN
10. Touch Done

Here is what worked for me ...

I have a no-name earpiece that my son and I got for gaming. (H220, I think, if that means anything). I was having the same problem ... the iPhone4 bluetooth screen would never get out of 'search' mode.

I had been holding down the button on the earpiece until seeing the 5 quick flashes to indicate the earpiece was in 'search' mode. After reading some of the posts here I tried something different. I held the button past the 5 quick flashes and after a second the light went to steady blue, and the phone immediately 'saw' it. Code '0000' paired it.

I think the earpiece was paired to another device ... our Xbox or my old Droid. I think the 5 quick flashes meant it would try to re-pair with that device. By holding the button to steady blue, I think I forced it to reset, so it could pair to a new device.

Bluetooth issues

If you are experiencing issues with your bluetooth not detecting devices but did at some point before then this is what you need to do.
-Restore your Device
-Setup as New
-DO NOT RESTORE FROM A BACKUP
-Sync back all your content and info separately
This should clear the issue and allow you to get the phone to stop just searching and searching with no end.

Thank you,

I just recently bought an iPhone 4 from someone and couldn't get it to pair with my Motoroloa S10-HD Bluetooth headphones. I thought it might have been something wrong with the phone. I decided to look up the headphones on the Motorola website to see if there was anything there that could help. At first it was discouraging because the iPhone 4 isn't in the compatible list of devices. But, the site suggested a factory reset of my headphones to see if that would help. Voila!!!!!! Instant success.

If you're having trouble with your bluetooth headset pairing with your device, go to the website of your headset and figure out how to factory reset the headset itself! It may be just a simple reset to fix the problem! Hope this helps someone!!!

Blue Tooth Pairing Issue: iPhone 4S w/Jabra Cruiser

To Soulynx- YOU are brilliant!

Your instructions solved my issue (an iPhone not pairing with a Jabra) immediately.

Thank you!

old bluetooth not pairing with new phone

My iPhone 4 will not pair with my headset. When I turn on bluetooth it starts searching and then never stops. It never finds my headset and never stops "searching". I have tried restarting the phone with no fix. I have just installed 4.0.1 and it made no difference. Think there is a problem with my bluetooth antenna?

I had the same problem and have a plantronics 155

Pairing New Phone/ Reconnecting Original:
Turn on the M155 headset then press and hold the Call Button for approximately 5-6 seconds until the LED flashes red/white.

How to pair your bluetooth with an iPhone4

I found this thread while I was searching for an answer as to why 2 different Bluetooth earpieces would not pair with my iPhone4. Like other folks on here, my phone would search forever without finding.

Here's what worked for my Bose and Plantronics devices. After asking your phone to Discover a new device, hold the "on/off" switch on your Bluetooth down for about 5 seconds. The phone will then find it.

Hope that helps! It sure was a frustrating problem.

Restart the phone, go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. Turn off the headset, turn it on again, go to Settings>General>Bluetooth>ON. Make sure both phone and headset are discoverable.

This does not work. I have a 2012 Camry with entune and its always worked until about a week ago. Now my Bluetooth and wifi are dead/greyed out. Same as all the other posts. Latest software update won't fix and AT&T said its a phone defect.

iPhone 4

I bought this iPhone 4 device nearly two weeks ago and I have never been able to connect to bluetooth devices. The device keeps searching for another bluetooth devices endlessly.

I spoke to their customer helpdesk and suggested me to try a couple of troubleshooting tips. Like resetting all settings and now currently while I type, my iPhone is being restored.

The lady on the call said if it still doesnt work, you will need to visit an Apple store and they will look into it.

Probably, I might just end up getting another handset but whats the point if this issue is already affecting thousands of users?

Trying my luck... lets see.
