I can sense fanboys in a 300,000km radius!

Of course here there will be a lot of fanboys. I am not one of them however, first Apple product and it may be my last.

I feel constrained by Apples control freak policies. Unfortunately, the wifes whole family is on AT&T, so we left TMobile. I am hoping by the time this contract is up there will be a Linux based phone or WinMo7 is out and running. The iPhone is okay just lacking in some basic features, IMO.

The first sentence is typical of a fanboy. I say, come on.. How do you copy and paste text on your iPhone? I tell you why you don't do this. Because you cant do this intuitively and seamlessly if you not own a paper and a pen on the right moment.

What you don't seem to understand is that everyone has different needs. It has nothing to do with being a fanboy. I never found myself in a situation where I needed copy and paste on my iPhone. I jailbroke my iPhone for video recording and MMS and I never used those either.

I knew very well what the iPhone could and couldn't do when I bought it and it still fulfills all my needs: it syncs perfectly with iCal, Address Book and iTunes; I get all my e-mails instantly with MobileMe Push; Maps is amazing, especially after 2.2 to find my way around a city I don't know...

And no, it's not perfect. But you are comparing the iPhone against phones from companies that have been making phones for a long time. This is the 2nd phone apple has made and despite some flaws it's still a huge success.

If you want to call me a fanboy, be my guest. But at least I'm happy with my device and enjoy it more everyday.

But, you admitted you jailbroke your phone, just as thousands of others - so even you admitted that the iPhone was lacking out of box. Why should we have to jailbreak to have the best experience? You say this is Apple's very first phone, but the consumers themselves have already figured out how to make it a better phone - why couldn't Apple have done this themselves?

And training yourself to believe you don't need a feature just because Steve Jobs didn't want it on there is not the same thing as never originally needing or using a certain phone feature pre-iPhone.

Yes, I admitted that the iPhone is not perfect. And there are features that should be added. But that can be said about every piece of electronic equipment. And at least apple is always adding features with software updates, unlike most phones manufacturers.

And although I jailbroke my iPhone I unjailbroke it recently because I never used the extra features (MMS, video recording, themes...). So yeah, I don't need them, it has nothing to do with "training yourself to believe you don't need a feature just because Steve Jobs didn't want it". I really didn't need them since when I had them I didn't use them. The same with copy and paste, I never felt the need for it on any cell phone I have ever had.

That doesn't mean I don't think they should be added. I think they should be added, because some people do need those features. I also trust that apple will add them eventually.

I just don't like people saying that the iPhone is crap because it doesn't have some feature, like that is an absolute truth. That isn't the truth for everyone. But if someone thinks the iPhone is crap, there's a lot of other phones to choose from.

I also don't see the need to call everyone that does like the iPhone a fanboy. I don't criticize people for liking Blackberries or any other phones. It's their choice and if they're happy, great. Why do people have to argue with people for liking the iPhone?

Thing is, I own an iPhone and I love it. I could sit on this thing all day (which I'm doing right now). But, by owning one, I know it's limitations and weaknesses. It would be fairly painless for Apple to fill in these large gaps. Problem is, ignoring Google streetview (since this is a creation of Google), there have been no new functions added since the last 2 updates. We should actually be using Firmware 2.0.2 right now. Maybe Apple doesn't even ever plan to add functions with 2.x releases, they haven't shown us any indication that we should be expecting new features with these releases. I'll put my hope in firmware 3.0 for new functions.

Over reaching, condescending post is overreaching and condescending.

I hate the N97, I just looked at some pics, it's bigger than the mac mini! Jeez, you gotta roll it on a skateboard with a rope attatched, it's freakin huge!

iphone got more aerodynamics than N97. in case you go skateboarding with, be sure that your pocket is locked cause iphone can mantain a flight path for more time.

This post keeps veering away from the topic please only post if you have something to say about iPhone competitors or iPhone vs. competitors or vise versa, it's what I made it for. Not FanBoys vs. Haters. :p

If this goes against any forum rules, go ahead and do what you have to mods

After making a stab at editing and nursing this thread into a reasonable shape, it's a pointless task trying to keep this thread together. A lot of people here hate the iPhone forums; one can begin to understand why. Some people are clearly incapable of discussing other phones.
