So impressed with the 4S cam I must say! Here's one of my recent shots, no modifications here to this pic

It really blows my mind that we can take images with this kind of quality on a phone...

I wonder what the hell things are going to be like in another 5 years

In 5 years? It'll be like what EOS 1Dx can give you today :D

But then again professional DSLR can give you much more by that time

Low light app?

I bought the iPhone 4 originally just for the camera without even a cell service. I got it just for the Wi-Fi capability of an Internet camera. It turned out to be an amazing experience. And I'm now very excited to have an iPhone 4S with cellular service.

I teach high school photography and told my students the other day that the iPhone 4S effectively killed point-and-shoot camera market.

Obviously for a wedding I'm going to take a suitcase full of cameras. But on today's field trip all I took was an iPhone and caught amazing photos.

When outshooting really nice photos I will still use the iPhone to take a photo to geo-tag the DSLR's photo. And also for HDR purposes I usually get in camera shots better than what I would have until I process the other camera shots which could be a long time if ever.

Question: what is the best low noise low light application?

A friend is using Average Camera Pro. But I wanted to find out if there was something else that was better. It seems to be fairly complicated to use because you have to take a lot of pictures.

I was really hoping the lowlight capability of the iPhone 4S would be a lot better than the iPhone 4 but it's not been that way yet.

Haven't tried it for myself but "Slow Shutter Cam" seems to be the most used, with some mixed reviews, apparently the better reviews say the have used a tripod while the others don't.

Can't personally recommend it but i figured i would at least give you an option.

Seems to me if you are using a tripod you defeated the point and shoot advantage of the iphone.

If you are looking for the "best" option in LOW light there is no way around it.. i agree thou, it would be annoying to be carrying around, but in reality no camera can really capture GREAT pics without some kind of slow shutter option.

But then again, if you are looking to take pictures with low light you should know better that no point and shoot would ever take a decent pic.

I hardly ever zoom, only when i'm taking a pic of the wife or the dog i tend to remember that there is a zoom

that's an awesome deck.. decks and the nice weather makes me not miss south fl so much :D

I took this one a couple of weeks ago..

Taken with 4S touched up with Camera + and then Big Lens

Depth of Field filter with Camera + doesn't work on this kind of shot.

just a few of my instagram photos and some unedited photos below it

it was tough to hold the phone steady in a cramped crowd at a green day concert hahaha

can i play with a 3gs?

both unedited and taken at Disneyland last night for Mickey's Halloween Party. I thought it did pretty well in low light with my trusty 3gs. cant wait to get my 4s.

I agree a tripod is needed for many shots, and I use one with my DSLR, but what I am saying is the strength of P&S like the iphone is to NOT have to deal with all of that. If I am going to break out all the extra equipment to take a better shot, then I am also going to break out a better camera.

In short, if you need a tripod for your shot, then the iPhone is likely the wrong camera. :)

4s shots are so big, anyone know how to make a picture smaller size so i can post it on here??

Make a flickr account - can use google, facebook or yahoo account (most likely will have one already)

Upload photos to flickr, click on the picture you want, the click on the share button, grab the bbcode and you can change the size of the imgages.

The ones i just posted are sized small

Enjoy the rustic look of the temporary Apple Store in SoHo (iPhone 4S + Instagram only):

The upper level looks almost like an art gallery:

While the lower level reminded me of NY fashion week in some unground studio:

On my wanderings on a cool fall afternoon I stumbled upon a neat little mushroom scape. I had both my 5D Mk II and my iPhone 4s and figured what the heck - an apples to oranges comparison.

So for me, the most important and critical camera is the one you have on you.
Any tips for getting a shallow DOF with iP4s?

These photos were taken at my granddads 80s birthday. taken with the stock app. as i remember

loving the pics you guys are posting!!

I have the 4S and I am getting pretty nice outdoor shots during the day, at night its a little iffy but much better than walking around with a point and shoot.

Can anyone recommend a great camera app that helps with the quality of photos or editing of photos? Paid or free, as long as it gives this novice a way to take better shots

Taken a few days ago outside my place. NE Florida fall (almost winters) can be rough. Taken with my 4S.
