Well, how much space would you need? Can you make do just fine with 64 GB?

I really don't think so. I have a 64gb SD card in my s9 and the 32gb on board memory. I don't like the idea of ever running out of space.

Although I think with the iPhone you don't have to keep all your pictures on the device right?

You have a few options regarding off device storage. The most popular being iCloud photos and the Google Photos app. The former may require a monthly subscription depending on the amount of storage you may need for your photo library and device backup.

Well, if you aren't sure and you don't like the idea of worrying about it, sounds like 64 GB might not be a good option to go with.

Being that you replied to another member that you feel that 64 GB would not be enough storage, then I think the safer option would be the iPhone 8 256 GB. Assuming, you’re also satisfied with an iPhone 8 totally different from the iPhone X in the sense of having touch ID.

I’d just like to point out that getting iCloud subscription is cheap and easy and you never have to worry about running out of space. So buy whichever you like. Space is not a concern.

Are you able to choose which photos you want backed up and which you do not want? Are you able to keep certain photos private or is it a all or nothing idea?

It’s all or nothing. And also the idea of iCloud is a sort of extension to your existing storage capacity. Nothing more.

Plus having iCloud subscription will enable you to have an automated backup of your device, which means you don’t need to worry about losing data.

I have 8 plus 64, and space is no issue at all, but I'm big into cloud services. I've got ten years of photos in the cloud. For private photos (non child friendly), I use KeepSafe instead of iCloud.

Depends on your usage, at this moment I have 32Gb iphone and I dont feel I need more - all photos stored in icloud, all music streamed from apple music. So if you dont need to store movies/photos/music in phine, 64 should be plenty... again, it all depends on the way you use the phone

I don´t use the cloud and pass pics and vids on to the photos app.
I got a 64 GB X and couldn't be happier. I was looking at the 8 plus but finally opted for the X on account that the format is a bit smaller but doesn't give away screen real estate.

What do people store that uses so much space? Videos? Everything else seems small in size, relatively.

What app are you storing the pictures in?

Apple does a lot of good things, but not offering 128gb is greedy as hell, I’m sorry. VERY few people need 256gb, but a good deal of people need more than 64gb. They’re forcing people to pay for more storage than they need. Sad, really.

Apple is all about the $$ and they know people will pay. Gladly there are lines to purchase their phones...

That's a ridiculous market strategy and they always get away with it.

The Macs own app, Photos.
I store it on an external hard drive and it currently sits at 221 GB.

BTW I also feel a 128 GB X would do the trick for me. As it is the 256 GB model was just too expensive (for me).

I put my full 180GB photo library from iCloud on my 256GB 7 Plus, it’s really nice. That would not be worth it when buying a new phone, way more expensive. I’d get the nicest phone over the one with more storage.

Personally though, between the 8 Plus and X, I’d want the 8 Plus for its larger screen.
