My biggest problem with Events is that I can't delete an event without deleting the picture from my library.

Becasue iPhoto made a bunch of events for me that were not really events I now want to delete them, but when I do that the pictures are deleted from my library. Why can't I just manually control the events?

Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

That bugs me as well. It seems that every photo MUST be in an event, but I wish it wasn't this way. Sometimes I take random photos that don't qualify as events. I keep these in different albums titled Miscellaneous, Friends & Family, School, etc. I wish I could just leave it at that instead of having to put them in events as well. I know I can just throw them into one big event, but I'd just prefer that it wasn't this way.

So an Event is pretty much the equivalent of the Film Roll from prior iPhoto releases -- the most basic form of iPhoto organization. Every photo has to exist in an Event/Film Roll, and from there, you can drop them into albums and stuff.

How did you folks that don't like Events handle this situation back then?

I have an idea...

If I do a Photoshop batch process on all the pictures in one folder, wouldn't that make all of them have the same date in the EXIF data?

Then when I import to iPhoto, all those pictures would be in one event, right?
