Hey, here’s some questions. For the gen 1 or 2 iPod classic, I know upgrading to a ssd isn’t possible or convenient. So let’s say if i used a hdd from a new iPod would that work? And would let’s say a 128gb one would work? Also, I was also thinking of swapping the internals of a 4th gen iPod into the body of a first gen iPod classic body. I’m pretty sure the screen is about the same size. So the only real work would be to add a slot for the 30 pin connector. But my question is this, can the spin wheel of the gen 2 work with the motherboard of a 4th gen iPod classic?

I'm pretty sure the internals are completely different sizes and connectors, for the HDD and the click wheels between the 1st and 4th gens. You could I guess put the internals completely from a newer iPod into it, but then it's not really gonna fit well and work well.

Well i'll find out soon. The internals of a ipod 4th or 5th should fin inside. The lcd is a near match to the gen 2 ipod front casing. My only problem is the click wheel. I ordered a ipod gen 2 thats brokens and will break down the click wheel to see if i can connect that with the logic board of the gen 4.
