I was studying for my first year exams, with my trusty green mini, i've had since highschool. Than it just died no more battery life, I'm thinking of resurecting it back to life, but its all dented and scrached. A new iPhone might replace it.

ipod 80gb

well i bought a 80gb ipod.. after being kinda annoyed by the sound the hard-drive made i noticed that the the bottom of the ipod made a sound when i pressed it..(makes like a click noise when pressed).. annoyed by both issues i go to the apple store. the guy there said that the hard drive sound was just natural, even though other ipods in the store were no where close to the amount of nise mine madeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. other than that. the clicking he said, was probably because two hooks inside the ipod were loose. and he said that it should be alright, and if anything happens i should just come back.. now i have noticed a dent on the back side of the ipod, probably because i dropped it.. dont know what to do. wanted to go to the store, but now all they will probably say is that youve dropped the ipod and now the case is loose and hard drive shakes(even though the dent just recently happend) soo if i go there, they will probably say that it was because of misuse and your warranty is void.. i got the normal 1 year warranty, out of which there is i think around 240 days left now. any suggestions?

My beloved blue 6Gb Mini died today from falling on a hard floor - the sad disk icon. It seems that it is cheaper to get a new Nano rather than replacing the HD: even do-it-yourself 6Gb HD is about 100 bucks, and today I might have struck a deal at the Apple refurb store. For a very short time they had 4Gb 2nd gen refurb nanos for $129  ; shortly after I placed the order, the price had changed to $149. This might have been a mistake by their webmasters, as they now sell 1st gen nanos for $129. Good deal on the Nano and RIP the Mini :)

iPOD mini one (named ryu-chan :3, I was a bit of a fantard back then), dead battery, after a whole lot of abuse and a knife cut across the screen (to this day I don't know what did it, but I have the EXACT SAME one on the case for my 30 gig ) so it was under warranty, enter ryu-chan two. This one had no warranty so I had to attempt to fix it myself. The first to issues went fine but the third..... http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/Kaorugirl/IMGP0226.jpg
Because it was a first gen mini, I might get it fixed one day if I'm rolling in money because I love the color much better than the new darker blue ones.
My 30 gig is still functional but every so often i get a scare, which is tramatizing for me because I require music for my sanity and need to be hooked up at all times D:

Used Brasso to clean my iPod-as suggested in MacLife magazine. Worked well-but left a grayish stain over the front-display area. Not noticeable enough for me-and still plays!

i stared this thread so i wouldn't feel so bad about about running mine over in a car. now after reading all of your stories, i treat mine like a baby now.

With my iPod just a few days over its 12 months waranty, i managed to quite spectacularly fall off my bike; i was ok and even when i picked up my ipod it seemed fine and was playing music. It was only later that it stopped working, i took it out the case and saw that it was almost completely crushed. Unfortunately, the belt clip from the case had caused it (irony!), cause it had been that that had pushed a dent in the center of the back plate. Failed hard drive, far too expensive to replace.

Next time, once i have enough £££ to buy a new one, im gunna remove the belt clip from that case. Dont use it anyway, but the case is great!

I've bought several ipods for family and friends, but never owned one myself. I have a crappy $40 samsung 512mb player i bought 4 years ago that runs on a single AA and is perfect for listening to stern, this american life etc. during my commute.

My story however is from college, when on some random weekend I was in the dorm bathroom releasing some processed beer when a very drunken girl stumbled in (coed bathrooms) and giggled her way to the toilet. Anyway she started screaming as i was walking out so i figured what the hell, i'll go make sure she hasn't gotten her foot stuck in the toilet or something. Anyway she had vomited in the toilet but was screaming about her ipod and phone. after screaming at me to help her i peered into the bowl and saw her ipod (i guess 3g was newest at that time?) and her brand new moto razr (way back when they were at least $250 with contract). I got her to do the dirty work and drag them out, and she threw them in the sink to wash them off, which i told her was a bad idea, but really i wasn't going to argue, i wasn't touching them in their current state.

Anyway I toweled them off for her and asked how the hell they fell in the toilet, to which she replied by pointing to her large chest and saying 'no pockets'. Apparently she had been using her chest as a holding place for them since her skanky outfit had no pockets, and when she leaned in for a puke they 'popped out'.

I told her not to turn them on but to let them dry in the sun for a week first, but I never talked to her again and have no idea if either device survived...but I doubt it.

I dropped my 1G Silver Mini on a concrete paving stone and dinked the top right-hand corner, right on the curve. Scratched it to buggery and distorted all the top white endplate, because the corner got crushed in. I was gutted! Kept it a few more months and then sold it on when my library outgrew the iPod capacity.

Now have a 5G Video and it gets treated like royalty. First purchase was an 'expendable' Agent 18 case!
