iPod iPod Price per GB -- You Decide!

The Shuffle is for people who own an 80GB or 160GB Classic (that holds all their songs and vids) and who want something small to take with them on a run, a bike ride, snowboarding.... like me.

$49 does it, I'm getting one.
 
Very interesting. But you can't simply go by storage alone. The Classic, while being far cheaper per GB than the Touch, certainly doesn't have as many features. You have to take into consideration the screen and other things like that. But that's not the point you were trying to make, I understand. As I said, very interesting.

Comparing the Touch to the other iPod models is completely apples to oranges. It's very much a hybrid iPod/computer with Safari, Mail, etc.
 
This might be going 'too deep' into the pricing, but all iPods come with the same headphones which are like 20 bucks, so if you factor that in the Shuffle is actually pretty reasonable value.

It would be reasonable if the earbuds were worth anywhere near $20.
 
Interesting, if not unexpected. You would expect price per GB to go down with increased storage - that is simple volume pricing. Plus, if you consider a base cost that is paid per model (which incidently isn't a constant between products of course), then the Shuffle becomes good value. Think of this as the base £2.50 you pay for just getting into the cab, no matter how long the journey.

On top of this there are two distinct pricings reflecting the two types of storage type. What I have never quite worked out is why the nano is so popular (and the mini before it), because they are not considerably smaller than the classic models.

However, each suits its own market, although it annoys me as to why one can't buy a 32GB iPhone when the technology is there in the touch.
